This country’s groves of oak, elm, beech, pine, and other trees nurture approximately 1,500 species of setas, or wild mushrooms. Every autumn, some 43 gastronomically significant varieties make their way into Spanish commerce, exports, tourism and food services, creating an annual mushroom frenzy that is as significant as it is fleeting. Nowhere is this more true than in the región of Castile-León, which annually accounts for some 65 million euros in wild mushroom sales, while generating nearly five million euros a year in edible fungus-centered tourism

Interesting facts:
The juveniles have blackish upper parts and cap, and chestnut primary wing feathers. This species has a magpie-like flight. It is a bird of warm open country with trees. It feeds on insects, spiders, small reptiles and hairy caterpillars, which
We have a pair of that visit daily, they have a strange shrill call not the normal cuckoo call you would expect. They are currently causing havoc with our resident magpies, who are continually driving the Cuckoo away. are distasteful to many birds.
Why do cuckoos call?
But the cuckoo chick has a special trick, too. Its loud and rapid begging calls sound like a whole brood of hungry host young, and this fools the foster parents into bringing as much food to a cuckoo chick as to a brood of their own.

What is special about cuckoo?
The cuckoo is a brood parasite. It is well-known for its habit of laying an egg in the nest of another bird, then leaving the offspring to be hatched and fed by 'foster parents'. This cunning tactic allows for more young cuckoos to be reared than would otherwise be possible.

How long does a cuckoo live?
It is estimated that the species numbers between 25 million and 100 million individuals worldwide, with around 12.6 million to 25.8 million of those birds breeding in Europe. The maximum recorded lifespan of a common cuckoo in the United Kingdom is 6 years, 11 months and 2 days.
