Salinas Shark Fighters

Salinas Shark Fighters Page in honour of group of men that made a promise to protect their fellow citizens from shark attacks They are called the Salinas Shark Fighters.

This page is in honor of a group of men that made a promise to protect their fellow citizens. The Salinas Shark Fighters first priority is to keep Salinas’ beaches safe from shark attacks, yet always with respect for the environment and the sharks themselves of course. Because of their succes in sharkfighting, there is a huge demand for their assistance by naval organisations in countries such as

Australia, Egypt, South Africa and some countries near the Atlantic Ocean. As they have to focus on the shores of Eivissa they decided to remain completely anonymous. The Salinas Shark Fighters, have therefore decided to take a new identity. It is thought that there are at present 4 active members going by the names of Martin Principes, Pablo Rosas, Estevan de Palma & Juan Martinez. Their actual whereabouts are unknown, altough it is suspected that they frequently patrol the shores of Salinas and Sa Caleta in Ibiza.

🌊 There is growing concern about Sa Trinxa beach. Located in Ses Salines, one of Ibiza’s most iconic beaches is seeing its sand disappear before our very eyes. Where once there was a wide stretch of golden sand, there is now a smaller beach dotted with seagrass beds—just days before the start of the season.

⚠️ Faced with this degradation, the Sant Josep de sa Talaia town hall is sounding the alarm. It has already reduced the number of beach chairs to limit pressure, but points out that coastal management depends primarily on the Spanish government and the Balearic Islands government.

🌬️ Experts, however, offer a more nuanced view: winter storms, currents, and winds partly explain this natural phenomenon. But the disappearance of Posidonia seagrass beds—often removed for aesthetic reasons—could exacerbate erosion.

🔥 And while this retreat of the sand is “normal” at this time of year, it appears that the phenomenon is worsening over the years. The future of Sa Trinxa will depend as much on human decisions… as on the whims of the sea.
