💸 Buying a yacht in Spain: what taxes should you take into account?

A 21% VAT applies to the purchase of a new yacht or, in certain cases, to a second-hand vessel when the transaction is subject to VAT.

In addition, recreational vessels over 8 metres in length are subject to the Spanish Registration Tax, which can be as high as 12% in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands.

As a result, in certain transactions, the overall tax burden can reach approximately 33%. Understanding these costs before making a purchase is essential for properly planning your investment.

At Windrose Ibiza, we assist you throughout the purchase and sale of vessels, helping you find the ideal boat and also providing maintenance services to keep it always in perfect condition. ⚓️
