The Philippine Embassy in Spain advises all Filipino nationals to remain vigilant as the wildfire emergency affecting parts of the Community of Madrid, the Province of Ávila, and the Province of Toledo continues.

Spanish authorities have confirmed that the wildfire remains active and has not yet been stabilized. While firefighting operations made progress overnight, weather conditions, including high temperatures, low humidity, and shifting winds, continue to pose challenges to containment efforts.

The National Emergency (Emergencia de Interés Nacional) remains in effect, and evacuation and confinement orders continue to be implemented in several municipalities in the Community of Madrid, the Province of Ávila, and the Province of Toledo. Filipino nationals residing in or travelling through these areas are urged to strictly comply with all instructions issued by Spanish authorities.

The City of Madrid is not under an evacuation order. However, smoke from the wildfire may continue to affect air quality in the capital and nearby areas. Residents are advised to take appropriate precautions, particularly children, older persons, pregnant women, and individuals with respiratory or cardiovascular conditions.

The Philippine Embassy strongly advises Filipino nationals to:

● Follow all instructions issued by local authorities and emergency services, including ES-Alert notifications;
● Monitor official updates from Emergencias 112 Comunidad de Madrid, 112 Castilla-La Mancha, Ministerio del Interior, Comunidad de Madrid, and Protección Civil y Emergencias;
● Avoid non-essential travel to municipalities affected by the wildfire and observe all road closures and access restrictions;
● Stay indoors when smoke levels are high, keep doors and windows closed, and limit outdoor activities where smoke or haze is present;
● Keep mobile phones charged and carry essential identification documents and medications at all times; and
● Inform family members of their whereabouts and maintain regular communication.

Filipino nationals who receive evacuation or confinement orders should comply immediately and proceed to designated safe areas as directed by Spanish authorities.

Those requiring urgent consular assistance may contact the Philippine Embassy's Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) Hotline:

📞 (+34) 616 491 861

The Philippine Embassy continues to closely monitor the situation in coordination with the competent Spanish authorities and will issue further updates as necessary.
