HAPPENING NOW: Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier of the Philippine Embassy in Spain joined the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Madrid today, 4 June 2026, at the Labor Forum conducted in partnership with Spain's Inspección de Trabajo y Seguridad Social (Labour and Social Security Inspectorate) for members of the Filipino community in Spain.

The forum provided overseas Filipinos with valuable information on Spanish labor laws, workplace rights and obligations, social security benefits, occupational safety, and mechanisms for reporting labor-related concerns. It also served as an important platform for direct dialogue between Filipino workers and Spanish labor authorities.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Lhuillier underscored the importance of empowering overseas Filipinos through greater awareness of their rights and responsibilities as workers.

In her remarks, Labor Attaché Angela Librado Trinidad underscored the importance of educating Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) about their rights and entitlements under Spanish labor laws. She emphasized that informed workers are better equipped to protect themselves from exploitation, misinformation, and fraudulent schemes, noting that greater awareness significantly reduces the risk of being deceived or taken advantage of in the workplace.
