HAPPENING NOW: The Philippine Embassy in Spain, led by Consul Dyan Kristine Miranda Pastrana, represented the Philippines at the 5th Ministerial Conference on Feminist Foreign Policy: Building Peace and Democracy, held in Madrid today, 02 June 2026.
The conference was inaugurated by Mr. José Manuel Albares, Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation. Joining them at the opening session were Eléonore Caroit, Minister Delegate for Francophonie, International Associations and French Citizens Abroad of France; Sima Bahous, Executive Director of UN Women; Tom Fletcher, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator; Diene Keita, Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA); Pramila Patten, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict; and Lina Abou-Habib, Director of The Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship, representing the Civil Society Committee of the Conference.
Bringing together government officials, international organizations, civil society representatives, and experts from around the world, the conference served as a high-level platform to advance discussions on gender equality, women’s leadership, peace and security, and inclusive governance.
