The Ambassador met with representatives of the Indian Madrid Malayali Association (IMMA) — Mr. Prajeesh Francis, President; Mrs. Rubin Ajan, Secretary; and Mr. Ajan Yogi, former Patron. They invited the Ambassador to the upcoming Onam celebrations and discussed community welfare, engagement, and possible joint activities of the Indian community with the Embassy.

Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved four multitracking projects covering eight districts in West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, at an estimated cost of Rs. 9,450 crore, to be completed up to 2030-31.

➡️ This 410 kms railway network increase will significantly enhance mobility, resulting in improved operational efficiency & service reliability for Indian Railways.

➡️ It will also result in additional freight traffic of magnitude 76 MTPA, help both in achieving climate goals and minimizing logistics cost of the country, reduce oil import by approx. 13 cr litres and lower CO2 emissions by approx. 65 cr kg.

Bajo el liderazgo del primer ministro Narendra Modi, el Gabinete de la Unión ha aprobado cuatro proyectos de ampliación a vías múltiples que abarcan ocho distritos de Bengala Occidental, Odisha, Tamil Nadu y Andhra Pradesh, con un coste estimado de 94.500 millones de rupias, cuya finalización está prevista para el año 2030-31.

➡️ Esta ampliación de la red ferroviaria en 410 km mejorará significativamente la movilidad, lo que se traducirá en una mayor eficiencia operativa y fiabilidad del servicio de los Ferrocarriles de la India.

➡️ También generará un tráfico adicional de mercancías de 76 MTPA, lo que contribuirá tanto a alcanzar los objetivos climáticos como a minimizar los costes logísticos del país, reducirá las importaciones de petróleo en aproximadamente 130 millones de litros y disminuirá las emisiones de CO₂ en aproximadamente 650 millones de kg.

The celebrations brought together the Indian community and friends of India for the hoisting of the Tricolour, a rendition of Vande Mataram, the national anthem, listening to the address of Hon'ble President, and cultural performances showcasing India’s rich traditions. 🇮🇳✨

The Embassy of India marked the occasion with a vibrant celebration bringing together the Indian community and Friends of India.

The programme opened with a collective rendition of , followed by the hoisting of the Tricolour 🇮🇳 by the Ambassador and the singing of National Anthem. The Ambassador read the Hon'ble President of India's Address to the Nation. In his remarks, he highlighted the growing momentum in India-Spain relations, including through India-Spain Year of Culture, Tourism and AI.

The celebrations came alive with patriotic performances by the Indian community, including children and students, creating a spirited atmosphere. The Embassy also felicitated the winners of the (BKJ) Quiz - Independence Day Special Edition, as well as the special photography and painting contests.

A heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us and made the celebrations memorable. The enthusiastic participation is a reflection of the special place that India's holds in the hearts of Indians, wherever they are.
