Bangladesh Ambassador to Spain HE Mr. Masudur Rahman paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Pedro Rollán Ojeda, the President of the Senate (Speaker of the Upper Chamber of Parliament) at the Senate of Spain (Palacio del Senado) in Madrid this morning.
They discussed excellent bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Spain with high optimism to expand trade, commerce and investment between the two countries. The Senate President spoke high of Bangladesh’s apparel industry and products that major Spanish companies are importing from Bangladesh. He praised the private-sector led business sectors that impacted growth and prosperity in Bangladesh over decades. Ambassador Masudur Rahman warmly invited the Senate President to visit Bangladesh with a parliamentary delegation, while urging the need for collaboration between people’s representatives and people centric exchanges between the two countries. He called upon the Spanish side to forge bilateral parliamentarians body in Spain that could galvanise two way trade to USD 6 billion while spurring investment and growth to the mutual benefit of friendly and harmonious people of two countries.
He urged the Spanish parliamentarians to promote businesses, trade and investment between the two countries. Cooperation in technology transfer, renewable energy, upscaling forward linkages in apparel and textile sectors, people to people exchanges, skilling, talent transfer and collaboration in safe migration was discussed. The Senate Speaker praised highly of the hard working Bangladeshi nationals in Spain affirming his applaud on Bangladeshi diaspora by terming them "Ambassadors of Bangladesh". Ambassador Masudur underscored the need for skilling and hiring of the new applicants in the extraordinary regularisation process while stating their abilities and usefulness in areas like tourism and hospitality sectors, agriculture sectors, housing, shipping, marine and deep sea fishing sectors, should trigger a fresh momentum to Spanish economy.
The meeting ended high optimism for political level of understanding to advance the objectives while Senate President highly appreciated the Bangladesh Ambassador for his visit. In reply Ambassador Masudur Rahman expressed his gratitude to allow him the audience despite his busy schedule.
