🚨Friendly heads up for our Apopka Birding Park community🚨
Mowing is expected tomorrow, and we want to reassure everyone that careful steps have been taken to protect the park’s wildlife. Volunteers of the Apopka Birding Park Working Group will be there to ensure sparrow habitat is preserved.
In addition, gopher tortoise burrows have been identified and clearly marked so they will not be mowed. This is the result of a lot of thoughtful planning and volunteer effort.
The purpose of mowing is to support long-term habitat health by helping manage invasive cogon grass, making it easier to treat in the spring.
We encourage you to enjoy the park before mowing.
Thank you for your attention! 🐦
