We mourn the passing of the Honorable Paul Ignatius, namesake of USS Paul Ignatius (DDG 117), who passed away on November 6, 2025, at his home in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Ignatius served as the 59th Secretary of the Navy, guiding the fleet through pivotal years during the Vietnam War. His lifetime of service extended beyond the Navy - As President of the Washington Post and CEO of the Air Transport Association, he continued to lead with integrity and vision.

The officers and crew of DDG 117 will continue to honor his remarkable legacy by remaining steadfast and !
