Free Legal Aid Service, Haramaya University Haramaya University Free Legal Aid Service is established in 2010. G.C under the initiation and coordination of the College Law.

Haramaya University Free Legal Aid Services provides free legal support to vulnerable and marginalized communities provided under the College of Law across Eastern and Western Hararghe, Maya City, and Harari Regional State in Ethiopia. Now the office is running more than 56 center operating at West Hararghe, East Hararghe, Maya City and Harari regional State with deploying 59 legal professionals.

Haramaya University College of Law Presents Nine-Month Free Legal Aid Performance at the 43rd Annual Research and Community Engagement Workshop

Haramaya University College of Law attended and presented its nine-month Free Legal Aid performance report for the 2018 Ethiopian Fiscal Year at the 43rd Annual Research and Community Engagement Workshop organized by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Community Engagement. The College was represented by the Free Legal Aid Program Coordinator, Mr. Chala Yuye, who presented the achievements and impact of the program during the reporting period.

The College of Law established its Free Legal Aid Services Program in 2002 E.C. and has been implementing the program continuously for the past 16 years. Since its establishment, the program has benefited more than 1.4 million households by providing legal aid services to individuals who are unable to afford legal representation, with particular focus on vulnerable and marginalized communities. During the current nine-month reporting period, the program served more than 151,000 beneficiaries and helped secure an estimated 97 million ETB in financial benefits and legal remedies for clients.

The presentation highlighted the College’s continued commitment to expanding access to justice, strengthening community engagement, and supporting underserved populations through sustainable legal aid services.

Haramaya University Conducts Internal Moot Court Competition to Select Representatives for National Court

April 29, 2026 – Haramaya University

The College of Law at Haramaya University successfully conducted an internal moot court competition to select a team that will represent the College and the University at the upcoming 10th National All Ethiopian Law Schools Moot Court Competition, to be hosted by Arba Minch University.

The competition was organized in collaboration with the Ethiopian Law Schools Association, the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission, and PJE, with financial support from the European Union.

This internal competition served as a platform to strengthen students’ advocacy, legal reasoning, and courtroom skills while fostering a spirit of excellence and professionalism.

The college extends its sincere congratulations to the selected team and wishes them great success as they prepare to represent Haramaya University on the national stage.
