The Mission and also facilitates Malawi’s participation in multilateral diplomacy in the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa The Malawi Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, facilitates Malawi’s participation in multilateral diplomacy in the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). The Mission is also accredited to the Federal Re
public of Ethiopia. Furthermore, the Mission serves as a base for Malawi’s management of bilateral relations with Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritanian, Niger, Nigeria, Saharawi Arab Republic, Sierra Leone, Senegal, South Sudan, and Togo on a non-residential basis. The main objectives of the Embassy are:
1) To continue developing and promoting cordial multi-faceted relations between Malawi and the federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in line with Malawi’s Foreign Policy.
2) To strengthen the collaboration between Malawi and all African Union member States by working closely with the African Union in promoting regional and continental integration.
3) To protect and promote Malawi’s interests in her engagement with international partners and stakeholders.
