Egypt Embassy to Ethiopia and the African Union

شاركت الزميلة سكرتير ثالث/ هايدي أحمد عبد الغني، عضو البعثة المصرية في أديس أبابا، في الاجتماع الثامن عشر والأخير لعام ٢٠٢٦ للجنة الخبراء القانونيين لاتفاق باريس والمعنية بتنفيذ الاتفاقية والالتزام بها، والذي عقد في مدينة بون بألمانيا في بداية الشهر الجاري، بصفتها عضو في اللجنة ممثلة للقارة الإفريقية.

وانشأت اللجنة وفقاً للمادة ١٥ من اتفاق باريس، وتعمل على تسهيل تنفيذ اتفاق باريس من قبل الدول الأطراف وتنفيذه والالتزام به
و تتكون اللجنة من 12 عضواً، عضوان عن كل من المجموعات الإقليمية الخمس للأمم المتحدة وعضو واحد من الدول الجزرية الصغيرة النامية (SIDS) والدول الأقل نموا (LDCs).

Third Secretary Haidy Ahmed Abdelghany، member of the Egyptian Mission in Addis Ababa, participated in the eighteenth meeting of the Paris Agreement Implementation and Compliance Committee (PAICC), which was held in Bonn, Germany, beginning of September 2026, in her capacity as an alternate member of the committee representing Africa.

PAICC is a committee of legal experts established pursuant to Article 15 of the Paris Agreement, to facilitate the implementation and compliance to the Paris Agreement by States Parties.
The Committee consists of 12 members (as well as 12 alternate members), with 2 members each from the five regional groups of the United Nations and 1 member each from the small island developing states (SIDS) and the least developed countries (LDCs).

شاركت البعثة في القمة الاستثنائية للاتحاد الافريقي بشأن تعزيز آليات منع وتسوية النزاعات في إفريقيا يوم ٣٠ أغسطس في لواندا، أنجولا، حيث ترأس السيد الدكتور/ مصطفى مدبولي، رئيس مجلس الوزراء، الوفد المصري والذي ضم السيد نائب وزير الخارجية للشئون الإفريقية السفير محمد ابوبكر، والسيدة السفيرة/ نيفين الحسيني، سفيرة مصر في لواندا.

وقد استهدفت قمة لواندا تعزيز هيكل السلم والأمن في القارة الإفريقية، مع التركيز على الملفات ذات الأولوية ومنها ملف إعادة الإعمار والتنمية ما بعد النزاعات والذي يتولى ريادته السيد رئيس الجمهورية.
وصدر عن القمة قراراً لرؤساء الدول والحكومات حول تعزيز السلم والأمن في القارة، وكذا خطة عمل تنفيذاً للقرار ومصفوقة تنفيذ لمتابعته بشكل فعال.

وقد شاركت الزميلة سكرتير ثالث/ هايدي أحمد عبد الغني من البعثة في اجتماعات القمة.

The mission participated in the African Union Extraordinary Summit on the Strengthening of Mechanisms for Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa on August 30 in Luanda, Angola. The Egyptian delegation was headed by H.E. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister of Egypt, and included H.E. the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mohamed Abu Bakr, and H.E. Ambassador Nevine El-Husseini, Egypt's Ambassador to Luanda.

The Luanda Summit aims to strengthen the peace and security architecture on the African continent, focusing on priority issues, including post-conflict reconstruction and development, championed by the President of the Egypt.
The Summit’s outcomes included a decision by Heads of State and Governments on strengthening peace and security on the continent, as well as an action plan and an implementation matrix for the effective follow-up on the decision.

Third Secretary/ Haidy Ahmed, from the mission, participated in the Summit.

شارك المستشار/ أحمد محرم ببعثة مصر الدائمة لدى الاتحاد الإفريقي في الاجتماع الأول لصياغة خطوط إرشادية قارية حول المهاجرين المفقودين في إفريقيا.
حضر الاجتماع ممثلون عن الدول الأعضاء بالاتحاد الإفريقي ومفوضية الاتحاد الإفريقي والمنظمة الدولية للهجرة واللجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر والانتربول ضمن آخرين.
The Permanent Mission of Egypt to the African Union participated in the first experts meeting to draft continental guidelines for addressing the issue of missing migrants in Africa.
Representatives of AU member States, AU commission, IOM, ICRC and Interpol participated among others in the meeting.

ترأس المستشار/ أحمد محرم ببعثة مصر الدائمة لدى الاتحاد الإفريقي الجلسة الرئيسية لورشة العمل الإقليمية التي ينظمها مكتب المفوض السامي لحقوق الإنسان حول التدفقات المالية غير المشروعة، بمشاركة ممثلين عن كل من مفوضية الاتحاد الإفريقي، ومكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدرات والجريمة، ولجنة الأمم المتحدة الاقتصادية لإفريقيا.

تناولت ورشة العمل أفضل الممارسات والفرص لتعزيز عمليات استعادة الأموال المنهوبة من الملاذات الآمنة في الخارج. ويأتي انعقاد ورشة العمل المشار إليها إعمالاً لقرار المجموعة الإفريقية في جنيف في مجلس حقوق الإنسان بناء على مبادرة مشتركة من كل من مصر وتونس وليبيا.

The Permanent Mission of Egypt to the African Union moderated the main session in the regional workshop organized by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on illicit financial flows, with participation of representatives from the African Union Commission, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.

The workshop discussed best practices and opportunities to enhance asset recovery efforts from abroad. It was held pursuant to the resolution of the African Group at the Human Rights Council in Geneva, which was jointly initiated by Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya.

انتهت أعمال لجنة المندوبين الدائمين، والتي شاركت فيها البعثة المصرية في اديس ابابا برئاسة السيد السفير والمندوب الدائم د./عبيدة الدندراوي على مدار الأسبوع، تحضيراً لقمة الاتحاد الأفريقي الاستثنائية الحادية والعشرين لتسوية ومنع النزاعات في إفريقيا - قمة لواندا، والمقرر أن تعقد في لواندا خلال الفترة من ٢٩ إلى ٣٠ أغسطس، بمشاركة السادة رؤساء الدول والحكومات.

ومن المقرر أن يصدر عن القمة قراراً لرؤساء الدول والحكومات حول تعزيز السلم والأمن في القارة، وكذا خطة عمل تنفيذاً للقرار ومصفوقة تنفيذ لمتابعته بشكل فعال، وهي المخرجات التي تناولتها لجنة المندوبين الدائمين تحضيراً لعرضها على القمة.

وتهدف القمة إلى تعزيز هيكل السلم والأمن في القارة الإفريقية، مع التركيز على الملفات ذات الأولوية ومنها ملف إعادة الإعمار والتنمية ما بعد النزاعات الذي يتولى ريادته للقارة الإفريقية فخامة السيد رئيس الجمهورية.

The Permanent Representatives Committee of the African Union concluded its work in preparation for the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union for the Strengthening of Mechanims for Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa - the Luanda Summit, which is scheduled to be held in Luanda during the period from August 29 to 30, with the participation of the Heads of State and Government. The Permanent Mission of Egypt, headed by Ambassador and Permanent Representative, Dr./Obaida Al-Dandarawy, participated throughout the week in the meetings of the Committee of Permanent Representatives.

The Summit is scheduled to issue a decision by Heads of State and Government on strengthening peace and security on the continent, as well as an Action Plan to implement the decision and an implementation matrix for an effective follow-up, outcomes that the Representatives Committee discussed in preparation for the Summit.

The summit aims to strengthen the peace and security structure on the African continent, with a focus on priority issues, including post-conflict reconstruction and development, which is led by His Excellency the President of Egypt.

‎ اقامت البعثة المصرية في أديس أبابا حفل استقبال للترحيب بعدد من الزملاء الجدد المنضمين للعمل بالبعثة ومكتب مصر للطيران ومكتب البنك الأهلي المصري، وكذا لتوديع كل من الاستاذ/ عبد الرازق عثمان، والاستاذ خالد السعيد من البعثة، والاستاذ شريف كمال، والاستاذ آسر حسين من شركة مصر للطيران، حيث ثمن السيد السفير/ د.عبيدة الدندراوي، سفير جمهورية مصر العربية في إثيوبيا ومندوبها الدائم لدى الاتحاد الافريقي الجهود المخلصة والدؤوبة التي بذلها الزملاء المغادرين، متمنياً للأعضاء الجدد التوفيق في مهامهم المقبلة

The Egyptian Mission in Addis Ababa hosted a reception to welcome a number of new colleagues joining the Mission, EgyptAir office, and the National Bank of Egypt office, as well as to bid farewell to Mr. Abdel Razek Othman and Mr. Khaled El-Saeed from the Mission, and Mr. Sherif Kamal and Mr. Aser Hussein from EgyptAir.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Obaida El-Dandarawy, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, expressed his appreciation for the sincere and tireless efforts made by the departing colleagues, wishing them success in their future endeavors. He also wished the newly joining members success in their upcoming mandates.

استقبل السيد السفير د. عبيدة الدندراوي، سفير جمهورية مصر العربية لدى إثيوبيا ومندوبها الدائم لدى الاتحاد الأفريقي، السيد إبراهيما تونكارا، الرئيس الجديد لبعثة اللجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر لدى الاتحاد الإفريقي والمنظمات الدولية في إفريقيا، بمشاركة نائب رئيس بعثة اللجنة الدولية، والمستشار/ أحمد محرم من البعثة.

ركز اللقاء على فرص التعاون المشترك في إطار الاتحاد الإفريقي، وآليات تعزيز الالتزام بالقانون الدولي الإنساني على المستويين القاري والدولي، حيث أشاد رئيس بعثة اللجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر بجهود مصر المخلصة ودورها المحوري في المحافل الإقليمية والدولية لتأكيد أهمية الالتزام والاحترام الكامل لقواعد القانون الدولي.

H.E. Dr. Obaida El-Dandarawy, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, received Mr. Ibrahima Tounkara, the new Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross to the African Union and International Organizations in Africa, with the participation of the Deputy Head of ICRC delegation and Counsellor Ahmed Moharam from the mission.

The meeting focused on venues of bilateral cooperation within the African Union, and mutual coordination to strengthen adherence to international humanitarian law at the continental and international level, where the head of the ICRC delegation praised Egypt’s sincere efforts and its pivotal role in regional and international fora to emphasize the importance of full commitment to and respect for the rules of international law.
