The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Arsi University have jointly conducted a training program for students from the School of Veterinary Medicine and the Departments of Animal Science and Agribusiness and Value Chain Management.

The training began with welcoming remarks delivered by Dr. Regasa Ayana, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, and Prof. Nam from Suncheon University, South Korea. The program was officially opened by Dr. Fikadu Mitiku, President of Arsi University, who expressed appreciation to Korean Institutions in general and KOICA in particular for their positive impact on Ethiopia's development. He added that Ethiopia has a lot to learn from Korea's agricultural development, including precision agriculture, automation and the integration of AI technologies. He also expressed gratitude for both KOICA and Arsi University's College of Agriculture and Environmental Science for their dedications to work together towards the above-mentioned goals.

The training was organized under the KOICA project, “Improving the Quality of Milk and Milk Products in Ethiopia by Strengthening Human Capacity in Value Chain Activities.” The initiative aims to enhance participants’ knowledge and practical skills, equipping future professionals with the competencies needed to improve Ethiopia’s dairy value chain.

In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to extend the ongoing KOICA-funded action research project. The agreement reaffirmed the shared commitment of both institutions to strengthening collaborative research and capacity-building efforts. The MoU was signed by Dr. Fikadu Mitiku on behalf of Arsi University and Mr. Keehwa Sun on behalf of KOICA.

At the conclusion of the program, Arsi University staff, members of the Korean team, and the trainees participated in a tree-planting activity, demonstrating their common dedication to environmental sustainability and supporting Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative.

ተስፋን እንትከል በሚል መሪ ቃል የ2018 ዓ. ም በአንድ ጀምበር 800 ሚሊየን ችግኝ ሀገር አቀፍ የአረንጓዴ አሻራ መርሃ ግብር በአርሲ ዮኒቨርሲቲ ከ 45,000 በላይ ለዘርፈ ብዙ አገልግሎት የሚውል፣ 5000 የቡና ፣ እንዲሁም 3000 የተለያዩ ፍራፍሬ በአጠቃላይ 53,000 ችግኞች ነተተከለ ስሆን በመርሃ ግብሩ ላይ ከ 3500 ሰው በላይ አሻራውን አኑሯል ።

ከአረንጓዴ አሻራው ጎን ለጎን ጤንነታቸው የተጠበቀውን ማህበረሰብ ለማፍራት የዩኒቨርስቲውን ማህበረሰብ ያሳተፈ ሁሉን አቀፍ የአካል ብቃት እንቅስቃሴ ተከናውኗል።

በሌላ በኩል የአርሲ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ማህበራዊ ግዴታውን ለመወጣት በርካታ የማህበረሰብ አገልግሎት ስራዎችን እያከናወነ ስሆን በዛሬው እለትም የዩኒቨርስቲው ኘሬዚዳንት ዶ/ር ፍቃዱ ምትኩ ከሌሎች አመራሮች ጋር የአቅመ ደካማ ቤትን ገንብቶ ለመስጠት ግንባታውን በይፋ አስጀምረዋል ።

Arsi University Hosts Consultative Meeting on Distribution of Tetra-H Day-Old Chicks.

Arsi University held a consultative meeting with officials from the Arsi Zone and agricultural offices experts from four surrounding woredas to discuss the distribution of Tetra-H day-old chicks.
The meeting brought together higher officials of Arsi University, the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences management, and faculty members—particularly from the Department of Animal Sciences—along with participating woreda agricultural offices and stakeholders.
The session was officially opened with welcoming remarks by Dr. Regasa Ayana, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Science, followed by an opening address from Dr. Fikadu Mitiku, President of Arsi University. In his remarks, Dr. Fikadu highlighted the university’s community service contributions in areas such as food security, health support, free legal services, and education, and emphasized the university’s ongoing poultry initiatives aimed at meeting the community’s growing demand for day-old chicken. He called on all participants to work collaboratively toward addressing the issues related to distribution.
Following the opening remarks, Dr. Dereje Tsegaye, poultry farm coordinator at Arsi University, delivered a presentation on the nature of day-old chicks, including key points on management practices, common challenges, and mitigation strategies to support successful chick rearing and distribution.
After the presentation, participants expressed their appreciation for the university’s efforts and raised concerns related to the distribution process and implementation.
Finally, after a constructive and wide-ranging discussion, the participating office representatives signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining how they will collaborate in the future to support the effective distribution and management of Tetra-H day-old chicks.

Arsi University conducted three-day training for individuals who want to take the National Graduate Admission Test. The training aimed to help these individuals perform well on the test. The training focused on improving their critical thinking, reasoning, and skills in math and English. The participants in the training learned in an organized manner and received tailored assistance specifically for the test.
This support helped them feel more confident and prepared for the exam.
During the training, the participants expressed their gratitude to Arsi University for offering this training for free. The Office of Postgraduate Studies and the Continuing and Distance Education Office collaborated to make this training possible. This demonstrates that Arsi University genuinely aims to assist those who aspire to attend graduate studies.
