The Dawn of a New Era: Transitioning from Reform to Complete Political System Transformation
Eight years since its inception, the Prosperity Party stands at a critical juncture transitioning Ethiopia’s post-reform journey into a comprehensive, enduring, and institutionalized political system transformation. This strategic direction marks a historic turning point toward building a resilient, inclusive, and structural political architecture.
The primary objective of this political system transformation is to replace the outdated, obsolete, and backward-looking paradigms with fresh thinking. Our party firmly believes that any political force resisting change, clinging to obsolete tactics, or pursuing narrow factional interests yields nothing but political insolvency when measured against the political awareness of our people and lessons from our past. During the reform years; when we took unprecedented steps to democratize a political landscape historically characterized by harsh rhetoric and force, attempts to coerce outcomes stemmed from miscalculations and a failure to grasp the realities on the ground. Prosperity Party actively monitors and contends with such trends. We believe that the promising achievements across all sectors can only be sustained if all interests are addressed through peaceful, institutional means.
Political freedom alone cannot be an ultimate destination. Freedom must evolve into inclusive national dialogue, which in turn reinforces the rule of law. For any national decision to gain widespread public legitimacy, it must be grounded in public consultation and consent. The ongoing National Dialogue exemplifies this approach; it reconciles long-standing grievances, mitigates conflict, and ensures that future national institutions and procedures are built with direct public participation.
