European Chemicals Agency - ECHA

European Chemicals Agency - ECHA The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) is an Agency of the EU which works for the safe use of chemicals ECHA’s work is to help companies to comply with the law.

Chemicals are essential for life itself and for the many products that we all take for granted. Yet they can also affect our health and the environment on a daily basis. We touch them, feel them, and breathe them - both at work and at home. They are also very important for Europe, providing jobs and income for millions of European citizens. It is important that we know about the effects of chemica

ls and how to use them safely. The European Union is actually leading the world on chemical safety and ECHA is responsible for implementing the laws. We also improve the safe use of chemicals, provide information on chemicals and address chemicals of concern. We are 568 staff members working at ECHA from 27 European countries. As a central point of information about chemicals, we have the world’s largest database on chemicals on our website. It has a lot of information provided by industry and is free to use by anyone. To bee or not to bee" - that's the question on the minds of our buzzing friends, as numerous threats loom over their very existence 🐝

While we share tips on how you can support the bees, did you know that EFSA, EEA, and ECHA are also working behind the scenes to protect them?

👉🏼EFSA has developed ApisRAM, a model to help assess how pesticides affect honey bee colonies.
👉🏼The EEA helps safeguard pollinator habitats by providing key facts and promoting essential measures to protect Europe's pollinators and their crucial role in ecosystem services, including those vital to agriculture and food production.
👉🏼Scientists at ECHA have worked on guidance for companies and authorities to better protect bees from biocides’ risks. ECHA has also joining forces with EFSA to provide a tool for companies scientists, and authorities evaluate the risks of biocides to bees – Bee Risk.

Together, these EU agencies are working to create a brighter, buzzier future for Europe’s bees. 🌼

FOD Volksgezondheid, Veiligheid van de Voedselketen en Leefmilieu has launched a awareness campaign on and we’re pleased to share it with you. Thank you to the Belgian authorities for the great content.

Did you know that plastic tableware, wet wipes, or new toys can contain substances that disrupt hormones? Just like many other everyday items.

🚀 That’s why today we are launching a national awareness campaign on endocrine disruptors, in collaboration with the Regions, the Communities, and our partners.

Our goal is to help parents, expectant mothers, and grandparents better protect their (grand)children through simple, practical advice. Young children are particularly vulnerable to endocrine disruptors, especially during the first 1000 days of life, a key period for development.

👉 Adopt these simple habits to better protect your children every day: perturbateursendocriniens.be
