This week in Mikkeli, the Union Flag was raised at NATO Multi-Corps Land Component Command (MCLCC), marking the United Kingdom’s permanent presence within the Finnish Army Command headquarters.

The ceremony reflects the UK’s enduring contribution to Allied cooperation in the North, with permanent UK staff serving alongside colleagues from across NATO in support of security, readiness, and collective defence.

The MCLCC helps NATO countries work together more effectively by coordinating planning, training, and land operations. By bringing military personnel from different nations together in one headquarters, it helps ensure Allied forces can operate as a single, integrated team when needed.

Defence Attaché David Hirst and Ambassador Laura Davies visited Utti Jaeger Regiment in southeastern Finland. The 30-minute helicopter flight showed us the agility of the Finnish Army’s NH90 helicopters and their pilots’ expertise. Thank you for the opportunity .fi !
