We had the great pleasure of welcoming European Commission Executive Vice-President (Clean, Just and Competitive Transition) Teresa Ribera to Lappeenranta, South Karelia.
The visit brought together leaders to discuss concrete solutions for the clean transition – a topic that is central to both European policy and our region’s future. We were also delighted to have the Representation of the European Commission in Finland join the discussions, strengthening the dialogue between local, national and EU levels.
As Executive Vice-President Ribera noted during her visit:
”Happy to have met the mayors today to discuss solutions to clean transition. I am impressed by the dynamism, innovative communities in the region and its role for being a gatekeeper for Europe. I am humbled to support the region in its continuous effort for speeding up clean transition.”
”South Karelia is committed to advancing the green transition, building on strong regional cooperation, innovation ecosystems and our strategic location as Europe’s eastern border region”, commented Regional Mayor Satu Sikanen.
Thank you for the inspiring discussions – we look forward to continued cooperation.
