We kicked off the first session of The World of Work – Succeed in the Finnish Job Market training series, focusing on employability skills and effective communication.

A big thank you to our speaker Ramón Crespí for the inspiring and practical insights – and to all participants, both on-site and online.

One key takeaway by Mr. Crespi: always be ready to answer these two questions in a job interview:

Originally from Istanbul, Rana Toro first landed in Oulu as an exchange student in 2019. What started as a study abroad experience eventually became a new chapter of life. 💬

In her story, Rana reflects on moving from one of the world's largest cities to Oulu, discovering the beauty of nature, finding a sense of belonging, and learning to appreciate the quiet moments of everyday life.

From student life to working life at BusinessOulu as a Communications Assistant, Oulu became more than a place to live; it became home.

You are warmly invited to an inspiring evening of photography, music, discussion, and community on Wednesday, June 10 at Pohjankartano, Oulu.

This free event celebrates the winners of the Hymyilevä Oulu 26 photography competition. The evening includes a keynote speech by former President of Finland Tarja Halonen and a special performance by singer Saara Aalto.

🕕 6:00 PM – Gala begins
🕗 8:10 PM – Closing remarks

Come and enjoy photography, live music, inspiring talks, a panel discussion, and a welcoming atmosphere.

(En / Fi) ⚠️ Flight Operations Training Near Kuusamontie – No Need to Report Sightings ⚠️

Flight operations training will take place in early June near Kuusamontie, approximately 40 kilometres from the centre of Oulu. The activities will include, among other things, the use of larger-than-usual drones.

Various sensors will also be tested in the area. The activities involve several partners, including VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland.

The relevant authorities have been informed about the flight operations, so any sightings related to the activities do not need to be reported.

Kuusamontien läheisyydessä noin 40 kilometriä Oulun keskustasta harjoitellaan kesäkuun alussa lentotoimintaa, johon kuuluu esimerkiksi tavallista isompia drooneja.

Alueella testataan samalla myös erilaisten sensoreiden toimintaa. Toiminnassa on mukana muun muassa VTT. Viranomaisia on tiedotettu lentotoiminnasta, joten mahdollisista havainnoista ei tarvitse ilmoittaa.

Ryhmän visiona on luoda turvallinen, lämmin ja avoin kohtaamispaikka, jossa ruoka toimii sillanrakentajana ihmisten välillä.

🍱 Yhteinen ruokahetki on universaali tapa jakaa tarinoita, kulttuuria ja arjen kokemuksia riippumatta taustasta, kielestä tai elämäntilanteesta. Yhdessä tekeminen ja syöminen lisäävät myös iloa ja merkityksellisyyttä. Ensimmäisellä kerralla pääsee valmiiseen pöytään ja ideoidaan yhdessä seuraavien kertojen kattauksia.
