NEW PUBLICATION BY THE LFC STUDENT IN THE ROUTLEGE EDITED VOLUME

LFC student Raysa França has a forthcoming publication in an edited volume "Social and Cultural Aspects of the Circular Economy" (published by Routledge). This collection of essays brings together discussions arguing that circular economy must be linked to society and culture in order to create a viable concept for remodelling the economy. Covering a diverse range of topics and regions, including cities and living, food and human waste, packaging and law, fashion, design and art, this book provides a multi-layered examination of circularity.

In this collection, LFC student Raysa França co-authored the piece called “Filling the social gap in the circular economy: How can the solidarity economy contribute to urban circularity?” together with Erkki-Jussi Nylén, Ari Jokinen, and Pekka Jokinen. Raysa acknowledges that her writing and research have greatly benefited from the work of other LFC students.

We congratulate Raysa with such a great achievement and wish her many more successive projects in the future! 👏

"Sustainability in consulting business” and “Industrial union as promoter of the seasonal workers’ rights”: those are just two examples of the case studies conducted by 2-year LFC students in collaboration with partner organisations. The students' projects have been carried out as part of the annual course "LFCS04 Case Study: Examining Leadership and Sustainability Challenges". During the course, the students design and conduct research projects on the basis of tasks assigned to them by a partner organisation; the course, thus, is aimed at developing students’ capabilities and know-how in multi-disciplinary research teams. Read the blog post and have a closer look at the description of 8 projects the students performed in the autumn semester 2021!

The second-year LFC students have just finished the 2021 edition of the course “LFCS04 Case Study: Examining Leadership and Sustainability Challenges” which is traditionally carried out in close collaboration with business and public organisations. During the course, the students design and cond...

Yesterday 24.08 LFC staff members held an orientation session for new LFC students! After the introduction session (albeit online, but we hope to see each other in person quite soon!), teachers talked about uniqueness of the programme where governance, politics and business issues are analyzed multidisciplinary from a sustainable perspective - and provided practical information on programme’s structure and study plans.
We welcome our new students and wish all the best with your studies!

There has been a year since we last posted updates on our successful graduates and their theses: it is high time to honour the work by 28 LFC master’s students who graduated during the academic year 2020-2021.

The theses deal with a rich variety of topics, which addresses – and portrays – the interdisciplinarity of the LFC master’s programme in politics, governance and business studies. The topics of theses include – among others – postcolonising Danish foreign policy activism in the Global South; employee well-being in self-managing organizations; xenophobia and racism in the context of Vox’s Instagram account; customer-centricity of fashion rental companies; EU’s combat against gender violence; wellbeing through self-tracking.

“I am Eteläpuisto. I was born to be a park in the 1830s in the city of Tampere, Finland. I am located at the southern end of Hämeenpuisto park, and my friends have called me “the lungs of Tampere”. I am the green gate to lake Pyhäjärvi, and I protect its shore, connecting the city to the Pyynikki parks. My landscape features wide walking tracks and a stable ground. In this blog post, I will talk about how, together with my friends, I have been fighting for our right to exist against threats of urban planning and development, and why we have been successful until now.”
