Last weekend, members of the ejido in the municipality of Tila issued a couple of statements warning about the increase in violence and the murder of a member of the National Indigenous Congress (CNI) in the Chol town, northern region of Chiapas.
In one of the circulated documents, they claim that it was during the night of Friday, January 12, 2024, when members of a criminal group fired with army-exclusive weapons (9mm caliber) at Carmen López Lugo.
The ejido members hold responsible for the murder of López Lugo, who served as the president of the Surveillance Council from 2018 to 2021, to the criminal organization known as "Autodefensas Karma."
"This group has been promoting supposed pre-candidates for the governorship of the state of Chiapas with the last name Sasil (Sasil Dora Luz de León Villard) and Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar (both senators), so that you realize what kind of people want to govern the state of Chiapas; they are leaders of organized crime," refers to the statement about Ramírez Aguilar, who is heading as the candidate for the MORENA party in this year's gubernatorial elections.
In turn, the ejido members of Tila point to José Rodrigo Martínez Parcero and his sister, Dr. Adelaida Cruz de Santis Martínez Parcero, both health department workers (and Adelaida as a proportional representative of the municipal council of Tila), as members of the criminal group. These individuals have also been accused of coordinating the imposition, through signature forgery, of Eduardo Gutiérrez Martínez as the ejidal commissioner.
Carmen López Lugo was murdered on the night of Friday, January 12, 2024. The ejido members state that the murders in Tila "have been reported to the state prosecutor's office and the three levels of government, but they have turned a deaf ear, and it is clear that the same narco-state and narco-government continue.
