Miten intohimo nuorten auttamiseen muuttaa kaupunkia? 🎧🔥

Mussen matkassa -sarjan uusimmassa jaksossa Musse tapaa Arsalan Azizin – Turun tapahtumakentän pioneerin, levy-yhtiön perustajan ja nuorten puolestapuhujan.

Arsalan tekee töitä kulttuuri- ja musiikkialalla nuoret edellä. Hän haluaa luoda Turkuun uusia mahdollisuuksia ja turvallisia tiloja nuorille tekijöille aina musastudioista isoihin tapahtumiin.

Keskustelussa pohditaan myös musabisneksen tasa-arvoa ja sitä, miten tärkeää on kohdata jokainen tekijä ja artisti aidosti omana itsenään. Arsalanin mukaan parhaan kaupungin resepti on yksinkertainen: nuorille täytyy antaa tilaa ja heidän äänensä on päästettävä vahvemmin esiin.

Tänä keväänä huippu-urheilija ja vuoden turkulainen 2024 Mustafe Muuse jatkaa kierrostaan kotikaupungissaan – tapaamassa ihmisiä, joiden intohimo ja visio tekevät Turusta monimuotoisen ja elävän.

Free summer meals for children and youth in Turku 1–26 June 2026!

The City of Turku is organizing free summer meals for children and young people across Turku from June 1st to June 26th, 2026. The summer meal program supports families in their daily lives and provides a safe environment for children and youth to eat together. The organizers also offer fun summer activities in connection with the meals.

The meals are provided as part of the "Kivaloma kulmilla" activities, as well as through the summer programs of the 4H Association, the "Voimaa vanhemmuudesta" (Strength in Parenting) project, and FC Inter.

How do your everyday habits and future dreams shape the city we live in? Come and leave your mark on the future of Turku in a creative collage workshop!

Join the workshop and make your voice heard!
We are happy to share this exciting invitation on behalf of the Turun yliopisto - University of Turku and Turkuseura-Åbosamfundet. You'll get to use a unique 'deep-mapping' process and collage-making to vision our collective future.

What you need to know:

Your impact: By participating, you contribute directly to a doctoral thesis research project at UTU (Finland Futures Research Centre) on cultural sustainability transformation.

Languages: Mainly English, but you can fully participate in Finnish or Swedish too.

This week, we have left the studio to join the Southwest Finland International Competence Forum, which hosted a panel discussion on the international student experience.

International students Zumrah Atif, Moreblessings Kalamba M.D and Jingyi Shao talk about their time studying in Turku so far, how they are getting to grips with the language and how institutional support for students and graduates can improve. The discussion is moderated by our own Jonathon Murphy.

Onko mindset kohdallaan? ⚽️

Mussen matkassa -sarjan tuoreimmassa jaksossa Musse tapaa Thierry Francis Mbabanen – turkulaisen toimittajan ja FC Interin maalivahtivalmentajan, joka on asunut kaupungissa jo reilut 15 vuotta.

Thierry pohtii jaksossa sitä, miten kohtaamiset ovat muuttuneet ja miksi aito tasa-arvo vaatii meiltä kaikilta oikeaa asennetta. Samalla kun kaupungin infra kehittyy, on tärkeää, että myös me ihmiset olemme valmiita oppimaan toisiltamme ja kulkemaan yhteisönä samaan suuntaan.

Jalkapallon maailmasta Thierry tuo mukanaan tärkeän opetuksen nöyryydestä ja tasapainosta, oli kyseessä sitten voitto tai tappio. Samalla hän jakaa ajatuksiaan siitä, mikä tekee Turusta ja sitä ympäröivästä saaristosta hänelle erityisen paikan.

Tänä keväänä huippu-urheilija ja vuoden turkulainen 2024 Mustafe Muuse jatkaa kierrostaan kotikaupungissaan – tapaamassa ihmisiä, joiden intohimo ja visio tekevät Turusta monimuotoisen ja elävän.
