𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝟑 & 𝟒: Occupational Health & Safety Management System & Health and Safety at Work (General Workplace Conditions) Regulations 2003

Lautoka City Council staff and members of the Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Committee successfully wrapped up Day 2 of the OHS training, building further knowledge and practical understanding of workplace health and safety responsibilities.

The sessions focused on strengthening workplace safety systems, identifying and managing hazards, understanding employer and employee responsibilities, and promoting safe working conditions across all areas of the Council.

The training also provided an opportunity for staff and OHS Committee members to share experiences, discuss workplace challenges, and explore practical ways to improve safety practices within their respective work areas.

• Workplace health and safety responsibilities
• Hazard identification and risk management
• Safe workplace conditions
• OHS management

Lautoka City Council wishes to advise residents that the Free Environment Clean-Up Campaign for the Waiyavi and Simla Wards has now commenced and will continue until 9 September 2026.

🏠 Residents of Waiyavi and Simla Wards are requested to:

✅ Clean up your compounds and remove unwanted rubbish.
✅ Place your rubbish neatly outside your house/property for easy access by the collection team.
✅ Put out items such as tree branches, grass, old tyres, empty containers, bottles and other backyard waste.

Lautoka City Council commenced Day 1 of its Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Training, with Council staff and members of the OHS Committee actively participating in the programme.

The training focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Management System, together with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work (General Workplace Conditions) Regulations 2003.

The sessions provided valuable knowledge on identifying workplace hazards, managing risks, promoting safe work practices, and understanding the responsibilities of both employees and management in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.

The active participation of our staff and OHS Committee members reflects Lautoka City Council’s ongoing commitment to workplace safety, employee wellbeing, risk prevention and continuous improvement.

🤝 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐒𝐘 𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐓 – 𝐋𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐎𝐊𝐀 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘
The Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Kasiano Vusonilawa, together with A/DPC West SSP Esira Bari and members of the Fiji Police Force team, paid a courtesy visit this morning to the Acting CEO of Lautoka City Council and Chair of the Board of Special Administrators, Mr. Taitusi Rasoki, accompanied by Special Administrator Mr. Manasa Draki.

The courtesy visit provided an opportunity for meaningful discussions on the safety and security of Lautoka City, with both parties highlighting the importance of strengthening cooperation, coordination and partnership.

The collaboration between Lautoka City Council and the Fiji Police Force remains vital in ensuring a safe, secure and welcoming environment for our residents, businesses and visitors.

Through continued partnership and open communication, we can work together towards a safer and more secure Lautoka City.
