๐ŸŒ WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY 2026 | ACT FOR HUMANITY

Behind the work of the National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDRMO) are dedicated officers and partners who contribute to supporting communities before, during, and after disasters.

For World Humanitarian Day, we asked a few of the officers who support NDRMO to share what motivates them in their work as humanitarian actors.

Today, 19 August 2026, the National Disaster Risk Management Office (NDRMO) joined the global community in observing World Humanitarian Day 2026, under the theme โ€œAct for Humanity.โ€

In Fiji, humanitarian action is not only about responding to disasters โ€” it is about people helping people, protecting lives, supporting affected communities and strengthening resilience.

We recognise and honour the dedicated humanitarian workers, volunteers, first responders and community responders who continue to serve others, often in challenging and difficult circumstances. Their commitment plays a vital role in ensuring that assistance reaches those who need it most.

We also acknowledge the importance of strong partnerships between Government, civil society, development partners, humanitarian organisations and communities in delivering coordinated, inclusive and effective humanitarian action in Fiji.

Today, we remember.
Today, we recognise.
