A quick message from our National Job Fair Brand Ambassador Mere Nailatikau
The National Job Fair, Mere says, provides that opening to make the most of your curiosity. If there is an organisation, industry or sector that you have always been interested in, this is the place where you can gather information and hear the facts directly from representatives of employers and training institutions. The Fair will give you direct access to information on the types of occupations involved in these different organisations, and to decide if they match your skills or interests. The added bonus is the opportunity to join free training sessions to increase your chances for employment and improve your confidence.
"Going to the Job Fair can be a great learning experience and a doorway to further possibilities. There’s no harm in asking the hard questions directly to the representatives of these organisations so that you can capitalise on different options for training or study. I can understand that you might feel intimidated or worried that you might not qualify for various reasons – maybe you haven’t worked or studied in a long time. However, I really encourage you to make the most of this opportunity because you just might surprise yourself. You may find that there are companies and institutions that match your skills or interests, and even if you don’t you can still discover one or two key actions that you can take to put yourself in a better position for future opportunities. For example, you can start by participating in the free training sessions on offer."
