The Fiji Public Service Commission (PSC) Chair, Mr. Luke Rokovada was privileged to host a delegation from the Samoa Public Service Commission, led by the Chair of the Samoa PSC, Mr. Nonu Saleimoa Vaai, for a constructive engagement focused on sharing experiences, best practices, and innovative approaches to public sector development.
In attendance to this dialogue was also the H.E. Elisaia, the High Commissioner of Samoa to Fiji and his Deputy Mrs. Belinda Tafunai.
The visit provided a valuable platform for both commissions to exchange insights on a range of human resource management and development initiatives, including workforce planning, leadership development, talent management, organisational capability, and strategies for building high-performing and future-ready public services.
As part of the programme, the Fiji Learning Institute for Public Service - FLIPS delivered a presentation on its training and development offerings, highlighting its role in strengthening workforce capability, fostering leadership excellence, and supporting continuous professional growth across the Fiji Public Service. FLIPS also shared its ongoing efforts to equip public servants with the skills and competencies needed to meet emerging challenges and opportunities in an evolving public sector landscape.
The engagement reflects a shared commitment by Fiji and Samoa to advance public sector excellence through collaboration, knowledge exchange, and regional partnership. It underscores the importance of working together to strengthen human resource development frameworks and institutional capabilities that support effective and citizen-centred service delivery.
A key outcome of the discussions was Samoa PSC's proposal to establish a Twinning Agreement with FIji to formalise cooperation in areas of mutual interest. This partnership presents an exciting opportunity for both organisations to deepen collaboration, share expertise, and jointly advance public sector reforms and capacity-building initiatives.
The Fiji PSC looks forward to continuing this partnership and working closely with Samoa PSC to strengthen human resource development, enhance institutional effectiveness, and contribute to a more capable, resilient, and future-ready public service across the Pacific region.
