The Online Safety Commission (OSC) yesterday had the opportunity to participate in a Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) training facilitated by UNFPA Pacific.

The training strengthened employees’ understanding of expected standards of conduct, prohibited conduct, and the appropriate reporting pathways for suspected or actual incidents of sexual exploitation and abuse.

The session also provided an opportunity for OSC employees to reflect on the Commission’s PSEA Policy and its practical application, not only within the workplace but also in the delivery of OSC’s mandated functions.

As OSC personnel regularly engage with complainants, members of the public, children, communities and other stakeholders through complaint handling, awareness programmes and other activities, the training further strengthened employees’ understanding of the importance of ensuring that these interactions are conducted safely, respectfully and professionally, and remain free from sexual exploitation and abuse.

OSC remains committed to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace while ensuring that the same standards of safeguarding, accountability and appropriate conduct are reflected in the way the Commission engages with and serves the wider community.

This message links the traditional strength and leadership of women within their families to the modern need for digital self-protection and boundary-setting. It highlights that true empowerment today extends beyond physical home life into the digital realm, urging women to treat their online privacy, personal photos, and passwords with the same sacred care and security they give to their households to safeguard their dignity and peace of mind.

Your Data Isn't Free Market Produce!
When free quizzes, fake online contests, or random direct messages ask for your email, phone number, or mother's maiden name, remember: your personal info is valuable currency. Scammers trade it, sell it, and use it to hack your accounts. Don't give away your private details like free samples at the Suva market!

POST THE PHOTO AFTER YOU LEAVE!
Sharing real-time location tags or photos while you're still at a spot tells the internet exactly where you are and that your home might be empty. Enjoy the moment now, upload the story when you move to the next spot.

Screen time is great for a bit of peace and quiet, but keeping an eye on what they are watching is the real trick!
This week’s easy tip: Make it a family rule that all devices are charged overnight in the living room or kitchen, not in the bedrooms. It stops the late-night scrolling and ensures they get a good night's sleep.
Let's keep our kids safe and connected the right way!

The Best Firewall is the Glove Box

The most important screen when you're driving is the windshield.

Online safety isn't just about protecting your data from hackers; it's about protecting your life from digital distractions. No text, notification, or playlist update is worth a split-second blind spot. Real digital literacy means knowing exactly when to disconnect. If an online interaction can't wait until you pull over, it can wait until you arrive.
This week's challenge: Practice physical cyber security. Put your phone in the glove box or activate "Do Not Disturb While Driving" before you even turn the key. Safe travels!
