As part of ongoing efforts to promote women's health and the early detection of cervical cancer, Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) servicewomen participated in Pap smear screenings conducted by a medical team from the Colonial War Memorial Hospital at the RFMF George Mate Medical Clinic earlier this week.
The screening programme, was coordinated by Colonel Silipa Vananalagi, aimed to raise awareness of the importance of regular cervical cancer screening and preventive healthcare among female personnel. The initiative provided servicewomen with access to essential medical screening services to support their overall health and wellbeing.
Pap smear tests play a vital role in detecting abnormal cervical cell changes at an early stage, allowing for timely medical intervention and improved health outcomes. Early detection remains one of the most effective measures in reducing the risk of cervical cancer and ensuring appropriate treatment when required.
The initiative reflects the RFMF's continued commitment to supporting the health, wellbeing, and operational readiness of its personnel through proactive healthcare programmes and preventive medical services.
