Oceania Confederation of Credit Union Leagues The Oceania Confederation of Credit Union Leagues (OCCUL) is the peak body for credit unions in the Pacific providing support services and representation.

The concept for this network body was founded by delegates of Pacific Island countries that attended the Pacific Credit Union Technical Congress of 2008 and 2009. OCCUL became an independent entity on 1st July 2017 following close to 10 years of institutional support and guidance from CUFA - an international development agency dedicated to combating poverty across the Asia-Pacific region. OCCUL is

currently governed by its Board of Directors and enjoys the support and engagement of its wonderful members across the Pacific and Oceania region.

The Oceania Confederation of Credit Union Leagues (OCCUL) with co hosts the Fiji Savings & Credit Union League (FSCUL) celebrated International Credit Union Day yesterday with representatives from Credit Unions in the Suva area.

This year's theme was "Inspiring hope for a global community."

International Credit Union (ICU) Day® celebrates the spirit of the global credit union movement. The day is recognized to reflect upon the credit union movement's history, promote its achievements, recognize hard work and share member experiences. International Credit Union (ICU) Day® has been celebrated on the third Thursday of October since 1948.

The ultimate goal is to raise awareness about the tremendous work that credit unions and other financial cooperatives are doing around the world and give members the opportunity to get more engaged. The day of festivities for credit unions and financial cooperatives globally includes fundraisers, open houses, contests, picnics, volunteering and parades.

Happy International Credit Union Day Everyone!

OCCUL is please to launch the 13th Pacific Credit Union Technical Congress 2020.

This year the focus of our logo is on Mangroves because of the impact that it has on saving our coastlines across the Pacific. Not much has been discussed about how important mangroves are to our society but it is one of the effective ways to also counter Climate Change. As Pacific Islanders we need to raise more awareness on how useful the mangroves are to protecting us from increase in sea levels and natural disasters.

The logo design shows 11 roots representing the 11 credit unions and leagues who are members of OCCUL and the leaves represent their membership, like the mangrove the more the roots - the better the leaves.

Congress Dates: 7th -9th October 2020

Venue: Tanoa International Hotel, Nadi. Fiji Islands.
