Marian & I will definitely begin offering the PADI Enriched Air Nitrox Specialty class now that there is a source for nitrox on island. The information session for the first class will be on 17 November, aboard sv Avalon, in Mangrove Bay Marina, beginning at 17:45. Please let us know if you are seriously interested in the course as we may need to bring in more class material for it. If we have enough students, we will run the two dives as boat dives; if not, then we'll dive from shore. Cost for boat dives will be $225; shore dives will be $200.

The primary benefit of enriched air is to extend your no decompression limits beyond those of normal air. This has several advantages:

It extends your allowable bottom time.

It reduces any need to “push” (near) the air no decompression limits.

It reduces your overall nitrogen load from multiple dives.

For those of you who have the holiday off we are offering two trips. The first is an Advanced Open Water diver only trip to Ant to dive the point around Bird Island. The cost will be $85 per diver (5 spots); we'll have room for snorkelers who don't mind not going ashore at Ant for $40 (3 spots). The trip will depart from the Snowland dock at 09:00. We will car pool to the dock, leaving Kolonia at 08:00 from the parking area in front of the movie theater. We will provide a cooler with ice and drinking water and a container of fresh water for cameras.

Second dive will be at Irish Cove and Mwahnd Cove. It will leave from the Ice Dock at 08:30. Both sites are good for snorkeling, too. Cost per diver will be $45; cost per snorkeler will be $20. A cooler with ice and drinking water will be aboard. These dive sites are excellent for recently certified divers; also lots of photo opportunities exist.

We have started a new dive business here on Pohnpei, planning to keep costs for local divers affordable and fun. The dives will continue much as we have done in the past. We'll also be offering more diver education, boat rentals for fishing or tours of the island's reefs, reef motus, Ant & Pakin Atolls, inner reef islands, and the mangrove forests.

We are offering club membership, the annual cost is $100.
