LETTER FROM SKÚLIN Á GILJANESI👏

7th Grade Study Trip to Iceland 🛳

NATA received this explanation from 7.A and 7.B from Skúlin á Giljanesi on the Faroe Islands.

From May 20th to 23rd, our 7th-grade class went on a study trip to Iceland. We sailed for 16 hours from Tórshavn 🇫🇴 to Seyðisfjörður 🇮🇸. In Iceland, we stayed in the small town of Seyðisfjörður, surrounded by beautiful nature. We saw towering mountains and stunning waterfalls—it was truly an unforgettable experience.

One of the highlights of the trip was visiting a school in Reyðarfjörður. They were holding a sports day, and we joined in on the activities🏃‍♀️🏐 We got to know the Icelandic students 🇮🇸, played games together, and spent time talking and laughing. At the same time, a 7th-grade class from Germany was also visiting Iceland. We met them too and enjoyed spending time with students from two different countries on the same trip! 🌍💬

After the sports day, we were treated to pizza and soda🍕. The Icelandic students even invited us to their school dance, but unfortunately, we had to return home before it started. It was a lot of fun connecting with kids our own age and experiencing a new culture.

Another memorable moment was visiting the hot springs at Mývatn. The warm water and the unique volcanic landscape made it a very special and relaxing experience🌋💧.

After returning home, all the students prepared a presentation to share what we had learned from the trip. During the journey, we also kept travel journals where we wrote about our daily adventures. The trip was exciting, educational, and an experience we will always remember.

Til hamingju með þjóðhátíðardaginn! 🇮🇸

Today, on June 17, we celebrate Þjóðhátíðardagurinn – Iceland’s National Day – marking the founding of the Republic of Iceland in 1944.

At NATA, we are proud of our collaboration between Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Today, we send our warmest greetings to our Icelandic friends.

We are especially looking forward to returning to Iceland this autumn, when Vestnorden will take place in Akureyri – bringing together tourism professionals from the North Atlantic and the rest of the world 🌍✨
