Chateau de Gudanes, an abandoned, neglected and ruined château, tucked neatly into a deep valley in the French Pyrénées. Built in the 1740's, on a site with remains of where the first stories of religious tragedies began in the 13th century. This Class 1 Historic Monument was designed by Parisian architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel, famous for his neoclassical, architectural symmetry, including the Le

Stepping back into spring after a long, intentional pause. We’ve been tucked away in our own quiet hibernation, trading screens for stillness. So happy to be back in this space with a little more peace in our pockets. How have you been? Did we miss any magic while we were gone? These are the first bloom of daffodils planted last autumn. Thank you for planting 1000 bulbs to decorate the front terrace in springtime. Wishing you a bon-weekend 🇫🇷💕

Some of the best memories are made in summer - stepping into long days and light nights, French rosè on the front terrace, lazily bbq dinners and watching the clouds float across the sky. To be in harmony with the feeling of summer is a vibe. Memories that may last forever 🌸☀️🇫🇷💕

It’s that bountiful time of the season when everything is beginning to ripen. Raspberry bushes growing in rows upon the terraces are overflowing with the sweetest ripe fruits. The sweetest strawberries are at their juiciest as well as red and golden plums. Growing wildly, lavender is everywhere overtaking the recent spring blooms of roses. June has been full of hope and full of living. Harvesting fruits, vegetables, flowers, making rose petal ice-cream, lavender infused crème brûlée, rose syrups and all things organic from the garden. This week a dusting of snow has turned the Château into a winter fairytale, but soon the gardens will awaken with the promise of spring - new blossoms, fresh vegetables, and young trees taking root beside ancient orchards and towering pines 🌲🌷

As we plant, we reflect - on the mountains that stand watch, on the Château’s 800-year story, and on our small but meaningful chapter within its walls. Many families have called this place home, and with gentle hands, we hope to continue its legacy for generations yet to come.

We are reminded that the greatest joy of this journey has been witnessing life return to the Château - from the whisper of new leaves, to candlelit dinners with loved ones, to the welcoming of guests. And so, with hearts full of hope and love, we shall soon step into another season of restoration, adventure, and shared history.
