This Saturday, 7th March, was International Day of Remembrance for Fallen Police Officers. Led by Interpol, law enforcement agencies worldwide marked the day by moments of silence, flags at half mast and police buildings illuminated in blue.

Members of our team were proud to represent UK policing by providing a small team of regular and volunteer police officers at the NCA headquarters. We held a short service to mark the sacrifice of police who have died in the line of duty. The service involved the dipping of the union flag, the laying of a blue wreath and a 2 minute silence signified by a traditional police whistle.

The day brought UK policing together with our international law enforcement partners, highlighting the strength of our global networks.

Last night we attended the Emergency Services Carol Service with our friends and families in Norwich. The force standard was paraded alongside the Norfolk Fire & Rescue standard. The annual carol service is traditionally our final planned ceremonial event of the year (we are still available to deploy to short notice services).

The vast majority of NCCA members are frontline police officers and will be working over the festive period, so we hope all members find some time to relax with loved ones inbetween operational duties.

We would like to take the opportunity to wish all of our supporters a peaceful Christmas. Let's look forward to resuming our busy calendar of ceremonial events in 2026!

A slightly slower pace today as we visit The Canadian National Vimy Memorial. This magnificent memorial honours the bravery and sacrifices made by Canadian soldiers during the Great War. We had a tour of the remains of the battlefield, tunnels and trench system.

We are now winding our way back home to Norfolk and back to operational duties. A huge thank you to our good friends at The Ceremonial Association of Surrey Police for inviting us and organising the trip. Here's to many more years of joint working and ceremonial networking.

Today, on the 11th of November, the Norfolk Constabulary Ceremonial Association took part in 3 Remembrance events in Belgium. The morning started by forming up outside the Ypres Cathedral and taking part in the Poppy Parade to the Menin Gate where we laid a wreath on behalf of the force.

We were then invited by the Defence Attache at the Embassy to take part in the service at Tyne Cot. This consisted of a large police parade around the village before a service and wreath laying by dignitaries.

It was straight back to Ypres to round off the day taking part in the famous Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate. Accompanied by the music of the wonderful West Yorkshire Police Band.

That concludes our formal parades and acts of Remembrance for this trip. The opportunity to represent UK policing abroad and remember those who sacrificed everything has been an absolute privilege.

It's our second day in Ypres today. We started the day accompanying our colleagues from the Ceremonial Association of Surrey Police to pay their respects at the grave of a Surrey officer who fell in the First World War.

We then travelled over the border into France to visit the site of the Le Paradis massacre. We were hosted at Lestrem Town Hall by the Mayor and French military veterans. We were given a tour of the local memorials and the scene of the massacre where 97 Norfolk and Royal Scots soldiers were executed by the SS in May 1940.

As a combined ceremonial team of Norfolk and Surrey we held a short ceremony in the cemetery where the victims are buried. We laid wreaths and held a 2 minute silence remembering the sacrifices made by these brave men.

We finished the visit by presenting the town with a Norfolk Constabulary helmet to commemorate our visit. There's little time to rest as we attend briefings tonight before our involvement in the Menin Gate and Tyne Cot parades tomorrow.

4 Members of the Norfolk Constabulary Ceremonial Association are in Belgium representing UK policing alongside colleagues from the Ceremonial Association of Surrey Police.

Today we conducted a ceremony at the graveside of weights and measures officer Horace Buddery of Great Yarmouth Borough Police at Ramscapelle Road Cemetery. Horace died in the trenches during an artillery barrage in August 1917 whilst serving with the Manchester Regiment. His commanding officer described him as 'One of the best men in the company'.

We conducted another ceremony and laid a wreath at the grave of Norwich City Police Constable Cornelius Skipper. Cornelius was badly injured whilst serving as a gunner with the Royal Garrison Artillery on the frontline in August 1917. He died peacefully 2 days later in a field hospital.

We will spend the evening in Ypres, alongside Surrey Police, London Fire Brigade and the West Yorkshire Police Band. We will continue our acts of Remembrance tomorrow.

We will remember them.

Today is National Police Memorial Day. A day where police officers from around the UK come together to remember those that have given their lives whilst policing the country. NCCA members have taken part both in the national service in Coventry and the local service at King's Lynn. We will remember them and we will support the families left behind.
