🛢️ The disruption to oil and gas flows through the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on energy infrastructure across the region have major implications for energy security and affordability. The Republicans currently have majorities in both chambers of Congress, but their prospects of retaining this control for the final two years of the second Trump administration look slim. As is the case with all US elections, Americans will vote while their allies must live with the results. No matter what happens, there will be implications for transatlantic relations.

🌟 PSIA is looking forward to welcome Gabriela Ramos, Chairperson of the Center for AI and Digital Policy, for a keynote on AI governance gaps. Drawing on her work with UNESCO’s AI Ethics Recommendation and the OECD’s G20 AI Principles, she’ll examine AI’s rapid growth amid geopolitical and geoeconomic challenges, recent calls to pause frontier AI development, and what governments need to do to manage risks while capturing AI’s benefits.

A panel discussion on AI governance and ethics will follow, featuring Gabriela Ramos and two other leading experts and practitioners: Ignasi Guardans and Bernard Reber.

The podcast from Sciences Po’s Chair in Sovereign Debt and Finance at PSIA brings together leading voices from academia, policy and markets to discuss the major challenges shaping sovereign debt and global finance.

Series 3 opens with “Debt in a Higher-Rate World” — Paola Subacchi and Sonja Gibbs discuss how higher rates, tariffs, supply-chain pressures and growing financing needs are reshaping the global debt landscape, with real consequences for debt sustainability and bond markets, especially in emerging economies. They also explore what countries can do to strengthen domestic capital markets and attract more stable, long-term finance.
