L’ambassadrice Joanna Kempkers s’est réjouie d’avoir été invité à l’Hôtel de Ville de Paris pour un échange constructif avec Audrey Pulvar, adjointe au maire de Paris chargée des relations internationales, des affaires européennes et de la francophonie.

Cette rencontre a constitué une excellente occasion de prendre connaissance des priorités du maire et du Conseil municipal et d’aborder des sujets d’intérêt commun, notamment les possibilités d’organiser des expositions culturelles, des spectacles et des festivals. Ce fut également une occasion précieuse d’explorer les possibilités d’un engagement et d’une collaboration renforcés de la Nouvelle-Zélande au niveau municipal, notamment en matière d’adaptation au changement climatique.

L’ambassadrice Kempkers a salué la relation constructive qui s’est établie avec la Ville de Paris au cours des dernières années grâce à des projets de conseil et de soutien tels que le projet sur l’échange de terre pour Dave Gallaher.

Nous nous réjouissons de poursuivre cette coopération.

🇫🇷 France: wildfires
Since July 22, 2026, French authorities have evacuated of tens of thousands of residents and tourists due to wildfires in the Gironde and Landes regions near Bordeaux and Arcachon Bay.

Local authorities are advising people to avoid the affected areas. If you are near a wildfire:
👉follow the instructions of local authorities, including evacuation orders
👉monitor local media for up-to-date information

⚠️Wildfire alert in South-West France: ongoing serious fires in several locations across Gironde and Landes, including near Lège-Cap-Ferret, Le Porge, Saumos and Biscarrosse.

Travel may be disrupted with some roads and affected zones subject to sudden closures or access restrictions.

Stay alert through local news, follow official instructions and, if you’re heading to the affected areas, make sure to confirm arrangements with your accommodation or transport provider beforehand.

For the latest updates (in French) call the French Wildfire hotline, open daily from 9am - 5pm, on +33 (0) 9 70 80 90 40 (press 1 for Gironde and 2 for Landes). Track active wildfires on www.feuxdeforet.fr.

L'ambassadrice Joanna Kempkers a eu un échange très constructif avec le ministre délégué français chargé du Commerce extérieur et de l'Attractivité, Nicolas Forissier - Député de l'Indre, afin de renforcer encore davantage le partenariat économique entre la France et la Nouvelle-Zélande.

La France est le 17e partenaire commercial de la Nouvelle-Zélande, les exportations néo-zélandaises vers la France ayant augmenté de près de 10 % par rapport à l'année précédente. Cet échange a également été l’occasion de revenir sur les relations bilatérales solides nouées à la suite de la récente visite du ministre Forissier en Nouvelle-Zélande à l’occasion de la journée de l’ANZAC, et d’explorer de nouvelles possibilités de coopération renforcée dans le secteur culturel.

Cette rencontre fait suite à un engagement commun de la Nouvelle-Zélande et de la France visant à instaurer des réunions ministérielles annuelles destinées à faire progresser les liens commerciaux et d’investissement et à favoriser une collaboration plus étroite entre les entreprises néo-zélandaises et françaises.

Ambassador Kempkers had a productive discussion with France’s Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Attractiveness, Nicolas Forissier, to further strengthen the economic partnership between France and New Zealand.

France is New Zealand’s 17th largest trading partner, with New Zealand exports to France increasing by nearly 10% year-on-year. The exchange also provided an opportunity to reflect on the strong bilateral relationship following Minister Forissier’s recent visit to New Zealand for ANZAC Day, and to explore new opportunities for enhanced cooperation in the cultural sector.

The meeting follows a joint commitment by New Zealand and France to establish annual ministerial meetings aimed at advancing trade and investment ties and fostering closer collaboration between New Zealand and French businesses

Aujourd’hui c’est le 14 juillet en France, l’occasion de réfléchir aux valeurs de liberté, d’égalité et de fraternité, et de rendre hommage à la riche histoire et aux traditions de la République française.

Les célébrations de cette année revêt une importance particulière pour les relations entre la Nouvelle-Zélande et la France, en raison de la participation des Forces de défense néo-zélandaises au traditionnel défilé militaire des Champs-Élysées aux côtés d’autres pays membres de la Coalition des volontaires pour l’Ukraine. L’invitation adressé à la Nouvelle-Zélande pour cet événement historique souligne les liens solides d’amitié et de coopération qui unissent nos deux nations.

Today is Bastille Day in France, a moment to reflect on the values of liberty, equality, and fraternity, and to honour the rich history and traditions of the French Republic.

This year's celebrations are even more special for the New Zealand-France relationship because of the participation of the NZ Defence Force in the traditional military parade on the Champs-Élysées alongside other member nations of the Coalition of the Willing for Ukraine, New Zealand’s invitation to this historic event highlights the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two nations.

The MICHELIN Guide has officially arrived in New Zealand, marking its first-ever expansion into Oceania and placing New Zealand firmly on the global gastronomic map.

The inaugural Michelin Guide New Zealand 2026 recognises 110 restaurants, including one which has been awarded two stars, and fourteen which have been awarded one star. These awards celebrate the talent, creativity and commitment to epicurean excellence found across the country. Impressively, it is one of the strongest first editions in the Guide’s history, with an exceptionally high number of Stars awarded at launch.

This represents a landmark debut that showcases the very best of New Zealand’s food culture, hospitality, and pride of place.

New Zealand wrapped up a successful OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in Paris, concluding a busy programme as this year’s Vice‑Chair.

Minister Todd McClay MP chaired two key sessions, the first on ‘Aligning Industrial Policies with Open Trade’ and the second on ‘Industrial Policy, Investment and Development’, reinforcing New Zealand’s message that good industrial policy creates the conditions for innovation, competition, and resilience, without tilting the global playing field or fragmenting markets.

The day closed with a Ministerial Reception co‑hosted with Korea. A powerful performance by Ngāti Rānana London Māori Club showcased New Zealand’s culture for our international partners.

A strong finish to this year’s MCM, underscoring New Zealand’s commitment to open markets, fair, competitive industrial policy, and global cooperation.

A busy first day at the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in Paris, where New Zealand is serving as this year’s Vice‑Chair under the theme “Getting Industrial Policies Right for Open Markets, Growth and Prosperity.” Minister Todd McClay MP held seven bilateral meetings and delivered three interventions across the day’s sessions. His consistent message was clear:

Good industrial policy is aimed at creating the conditions for innovation, competition, and resilience to enable businesses and markets to thrive. We must be vigilant to ensure industrial policy is not used to tilt the global playing field, fragment markets or weaken the global system we depend on.

A strong start to the MCM, reinforcing New Zealand’s commitment to open markets, fair competition and rules‑based global trade as foundations for shared prosperity.
