Notre travail mondial concerne également la sécurité diplomatique internationale et la protection des organisations diplomatiques et politiques, en dispensant une formation sur la protection des droits de l'homme.

Nous menons des études sur la sécurité diplomatique et politique et les stratégies militaires mondiales, et collaborons à la résolution des crises politiques et sécuritaires dans le monde.

Nous nous efforçons de lutter contre les crimes internationaux par l'intermédiaire de la Cour pénale internationale et d'autres tribunaux.

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict. ⛔

To commemorate this important day, we would like to highlight our dedicated online training programme on the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse for private security providers. This comprehensive course is designed to equip individuals and organisations with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond effectively to such atrocities.

At ICoCA, we firmly believe that training and education play a pivotal role in preventing and addressing sexual violence, in conflict situations but not only. By raising awareness, fostering understanding, and promoting best practices, we can empower individuals and communities to take a proactive stance against these abhorrent acts.

🌎 USA VS WAGNER: SANCTIONS IN PROGRESS

🇺🇸 🇷🇺 Sanctions on sanctions
Washington continues to sanction the Wagner group, the Russian paramilitary organization closely linked to the Kremlin's foreign policy operations. Yesterday, the US Treasury issued charges against Ivan Maslov, a key figure in the Russian paramilitaries and de facto operational head of its operations in Mali. The group has in fact been active in the country since 2021, supporting the Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) in counter-insurgency activities after the break between Bamako and Paris.
But its field operations have a heavy toll, with allegations of violence and human rights violations against the civilian population. As in the case of the Moura massacre in March 2022: according to a recent United Nations report, more than 500 people were killed in the Malian city at the hands of FAMA and "foreign military personnel". Precisely for this episode, two Malian officers were also targeted by sanctions.

🪖 Bad influences
On the African continent, the armed wing of the Kremlin carries out operations of various kinds: military support, disinformation campaigns, illegal extraction of precious stones and metals, arms trafficking. Precisely the alleged illicit movement of equipment and ammunition from Mali to Ukraine would have convinced Washington to subject Maslov to sanctions.
According to the White House press release, Wagner's presence in Africa would be "a destabilizing force for any country that allows the group's resources to be deployed in its sovereign territory." Also yesterday, the United States accused the paramilitary group of having supplied surface-to-air missiles to the Rapid Support Forces of "Hemedti" Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, one of the two parties to the conflict in Sudan, thus contributing to the escalation of violence in the country.

💰 Don't say Wagner if you don't have it in the bag
Already in March, the US had designated the group a "transnational criminal organization" and imposed sanctions on its leaders, Yevgeny Prigozhin and Dmitriy Utkin. The measures announced so far target entities and individuals attributable to the organization. And this is the case with Maslov himself. The latter will no longer be able to hold assets and properties in the States, but it is not clear whether and how these sanctions can actually hinder the activities of the paramilitaries in Africa. In short, a blunt weapon for the Biden administration's efforts to counter Wagner.
Meanwhile, after completing the conquest, Prigozhin has declared that his mercenaries will hand over control of the city of Bakhmut to the regular Russian army by June 1. Does partial withdrawal from Donbass herald greater activism in Africa in the future?
