📅 Le 3 septembre à 14h30, rendez-vous à Saint-Maurice-lès-Châteauneuf pour découvrir un lieu chargé d’histoire au cœur d’un cadre bucolique.
La petite chapelle romane, nichée dans l’ancien cimetière du village, vous dévoilera ses secrets. Édifiée au XIIᵉ siècle, elle fut pendant plusieurs siècles l’église paroissiale.
Son architecture singulière ne manquera pas de vous surprendre, notamment avec son clocher latéral en pierre et son étonnante absence de nef, démolie au XIXᵉ siècle.
Autour de la chapelle, l’ancien cimetière abrite également un remarquable ensemble de stèles funéraires en pierre calcaire locale. Réalisées au XIXᵉ siècle par les tailleurs de pierre du village, elles témoignent du savoir-faire artisanal et de l’histoire de la commune.

⛪ This charming Romanesque chapel, tucked away in the village’s former cemetery, has many stories to tell. Built in the 12th century, it served as the parish church for several centuries.
Its unusual architecture is particularly noteworthy, with its stone bell tower set to the side and its striking absence of a nave, which was demolished in the 19th century.
🪦 Around the chapel, the former cemetery is home to a remarkable collection of funerary steles made from local limestone. Crafted in the 19th century by the village’s stonemasons, they provide a fascinating insight into the history, craftsmanship and heritage of the community.
