Alketa Xhafa Mripa is an internationally recognised artist and activist, born in Kosovo and living and working in London. Her multidisciplinary practice explores human rights, memory, identity, gender, migration, and the social and political narratives that shape contemporary life.
Arriving in London in 1997 to study Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, she has built a practice that moves between art, activism, and public engagement, creating works that resonate across cultural and geographical boundaries.
Her landmark public art installation, Thinking of You, is a multi-site participatory work dedicated to survivors of sexual violence in conflict and beyond. Composed of dresses donated by survivors and those standing in solidarity with them, suspended across public spaces, the installation transforms personal testimony into a collective act of remembrance, visibility, and healing.
First presented in 2015 at Kosovo’s national football stadium, Thinking of You became a powerful symbol of solidarity and social transformation. Since then, the work has travelled to cities of global significance: The Hague (2024), the International City of Peace and Justice; Strasbourg (2025), home of the Council of Europe; and the United Nations Headquarters in New York (March 2026), extending its dialogue across international cultural and political landscapes.
Next month, Thinking of You arrives in Oslo, where the installation will stand in front of the Nobel Peace Center on 19 June — continuing its journey as a work that speaks to collective memory, justice, and human dignity.
