As the last days of spring draw to a close, we are surrounded by activity at Château de Purnon.

Restored windows are carefully reinstalled, flooding some of our favorite rooms with sunlight after months of darkness.

Our stonemasons work on the pavers on the northern terrace.

While a local farmer lends a hand to cut our prairies and bale the hay.

This week, after years of preparatory work, the moment finally arrived when we could hang the first wallpapers in the Château tisanerie!

We discovered the fading fragments of this striking wallpaper in the Château attic. With help of the Château archives we were able to find its original location. This stunning wallpaper once graced the bed canopy of Madame de la Motte Baracé at Château de Purnon.

Brought back to life by as part of the Purnon Papers collection and appropriately called Baracé we are thrilled to return it to the Château walls once again.

We can’t wait to finish this lovely room and hope you love the wallpaper as much as we do!

Thank you to our incredible heritage architect Frédéric Didier and all the talented artisans who worked tirelessly on the restoration of the billiard room and the billiard table.

A special thanks to who spotted the first trace of the billiard table in the Château attic and told us to protect it, knowing it was going to prove to be important as the Château restoration progressed!
