Tribute to the Weeklund Crew of the B24 #41-29371 shot down on 25/06/44 B-24H-15-FO #41-29371 "The Crippled Bitch" Code : U8-H Shot down on 25 June 1944. The mission was to bomb the airfield at Bretigny, France.

Inauguré en septembre 2016, ce monument créé par l’association “Vert le Grand Autrefois” sous l'impulsion et suite aux recherches historiques et archéologiques de Jérôme Leblanc rend hommage à l’équipage du bombardier américain #4129371 piloté par le lieutenant Weeklund.

Jérôme Leblanc of ARHM (Military Memory and Heritage Association) thanks everyone who participated, either physically or in spirit, in the 10th ceremony honoring the American airmen who fell at Vert-le-Grand.

We extend our sincere thanks to all those who braved the temperatures exceeding 40°C during the ceremony.

We thank the family for their visit to the monument this week and invite them to contact Jérôme Leblanc.

We are honored by the support of the American families of the airmen, and we remain committed to preserving their memory.

Nous remercions vivement toutes les personnes ayant surmontés la température supérieure à 40°C durant la cérémonie.

For the 10th anniversary of the inauguration of the monument honoring the American airmen whose B-24 bomber crashed in Vert-le-Grand, we gathered in the sweltering heat of over 40 degrees Celsius to honor the promise made to our American friends and the families of the deceased to perpetuate the memory of their loved ones.

Pour le 10e anniversaire de l'inauguration du monument en hommage aux aviateurs américains dans le bombardier B-24 s'est écrasé à Vert-le-Grand. Nous nous sommes réunis sous une chaleur implacable de plus de 40 degrés, pour respecter la promesse faite à nos amis américains, familles des défunts de perpétuer la mémoire de leurs parents.
