ONE MAN, ONE VOTE — WHO GAVE WIKE THE POWER TO DECIDE ABUJA’S POLITICAL FUTURE? 😂🇳🇬
When a politician publicly boasts that he will not allow President Tinubu to lose the FCT (Abuja), despite the constitutional requirement of securing at least 25% of the votes in the FCT, Nigerians have every reason to ask serious questions.
Since when did one man’s political ambition become more important than the collective will of the people?
Wike has one vote, just like every other eligible voter. No minister, governor, political godfather or party leader owns the votes of the people. In a democracy, votes are earned through public trust, performance and accountability — not through threats, political muscle or declarations of political ownership.
At a time when Nigerians are struggling with the cost of living, mounting public debt and questions about the management of public resources, citizens deserve leaders who listen to their concerns rather than boast about controlling electoral outcomes.
Let this be clear: Abuja belongs to its people, not to any political godfather. The 25% constitutional requirement is not a favour to be granted by Wike; it is an electoral requirement to be determined by the votes lawfully cast and counted.
We therefore call on the relevant security agencies to take note of such public declarations, remain neutral, protect the democratic process and ensure that every eligible Nigerian can vote freely without intimidation or interference.
Our democracy must never become the private property of a few powerful individuals. Nigerians have the constitutional right to choose their leaders, and that right must be respected.
The question remains: can any politician guarantee another person’s electoral victory when the final decision belongs to the voters?
The people must have the final say. No intimidation. No political ownership of votes. No compromise on democracy.
