Veterans Breakfast - Banff, Saturday 1st August

NoW’s next Veterans/Ex-Military Breakfast is this Saturday, 1st August at the Spotty Bag Shop restaurant in Banff.

For those new to the mailing list, the breakfasts are open to Veterans/Ex-military and their families/carers.

The Breakfast starts at 10am and ends at 11:30am - this allows staff time to clear the tables ready for lunchtime. Please note that whilst we are in the room on the left, the main part of the restaurant is still open - this means staff are busy in both places and it can take time for food to come out to us and vice versa.

Booking is essential and to book a place or places, you should email [email protected] or call 01466 793732 - by 12 noon on Friday 31st July at the latest - we need to advise numbers in advance for catering purposes. Please include the number in your party in the email.

If you book a place and find that you cannot make it, we would appreciate it if you could let us know.

Aberdeenshire Council - Armed Forces Day

Last week Aberdeenshire Council proudly reaffirmed its commitment to supporting serving personnel, veterans, reservists, cadets and their families.

A flag-raising ceremony at Woodhill House brought together members of the Armed Forces community, councillors, staff and local partners to recognise the dedication, service and sacrifice of those who protect our freedoms.

As a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant and a Ministry of Defence Gold Award employer, the council continues to champion veterans and the wider military community through employment support, housing, education and strong local partnerships.

A huge thank you to all who have served, are currently serving, and to the families who support them. Your contribution is greatly valued and will never be taken for granted.

Turn to Starboard and Invictus Games Birmingham 2027

The unexpected visit of two traditionally rigged tall ships – Pellew and Spirit of Falmouth – to the Port of Aberdeen on 2nd May provided a great opportunity for Armed Forces veterans to have exclusive access to the vessels and provided a chance to network with other veterans and crew.

Turn to Starboard and Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 have launched Full Circle, a 2000-natical-mile circumnavigation of the UK by these two tall ships.

The 12 week sailing expedition is carrying the Invictus Games Flag around the UK ahead of Birmingham 2027, calling at various ports throughout the 4 nations. The voyage highlights the work the Turn to Starboard do using sailing as non-clinical therapeutic adventure as part of a veteran recovery journey.
