Welcome to the page for RNLI Aberdeen Lifeboat. Operating from the heart of Europe’s oil capital, Aberdeen’s Severn class all weather lifeboat and D class inshore lifeboat are always ready to respond to anyone in difficulty on or off the Granite City’s shores.

What a day 😃

Thank you to each and every one of you who came along to our Open Day on Saturday!

It was a really special day for us and we’re so grateful to everyone who joined us to see what we get up to, and to everyone who so generously donated on the day.

A huge thank you to the crews of the Douglas Currie, RNLI Peterhead Lifeboat and RNLI Stonehaven for bringing their boats along.

Thank you also to HM Coastguard, Scottish Fire and Rescue, Scottish Ambulance and Police Scotland, the RNLI Lifeguards, the RNLI Heritage Trust, Trust Ford, the Bridge of Don Sea Cadets, the East Grampian Coastal Partnership, the Aberdeen Magical Society and the Baltic Boys for being part of our open day!

Also a huge thank you to Ffolkes Offshore Ltd for providing the shuttle to get folks safely to the station and to The Gordon Highlanders Association Drums & Pipes for their fantastic performances.

And to all our RNLI fundraising volunteers and crew who put in the hard work behind the scenes to make it all happen, thank you!

We can’t wait to do it all again next year!

The boats are in, the gates are open, Aberdeen RNLI’s Open Day is in full swing! ⚓

Come on down and say hello to the crew, take a look on board the lifeboats, and find out what it takes to saves at sea.

Fun for all the family, and it’s all in support of our volunteers who are ready to launch, whatever the weather. 🚤

YAY IT’S TOMORROW! 🥳

Our Open Day & BBQ returns TOMORROW Saturday 15th of August, 11am- 4pm at Waterloo Quay (Victoria Dock Entrance).

We are so excited to be joined by the historic Douglas Currie along with our flank stations RNLI Peterhead and RNLI Stonehaven.

All five boats will arrive into the harbour together at 10:40am, ahead of the Open Day opening at 11am, well worth watching from a view overlooking the harbour entrance.

Throughout the day you can:

Tour the lifeboats and meet the volunteer crew
Meet colleagues from HM Coastguard, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland
Enjoy performances from The Gordon Highlanders Association Drums & Pipes
Take part in games, with prizes for the kids
Performances from a magician
Join us for a BBQ, ice cream truck, teas and cakes
Browse RNLI merchandise

Not long to go!

Aberdeen Lifeboat Station Open Day & BBQ - Saturday 15 August!

Come along to Aberdeen Lifeboat Station's Open Day & BBQ, taking place on Saturday 15 August, 11am-4pm at Victoria Dock Entrance, Waterloo Quay, Aberdeen.

This year we'll have five lifeboats on site, including our own Bon Accord and Buoy Woody-85N, alongside visiting boats from our flank stations, RNLI Stonehaven and RNLI Peterhead. We're also pleased to welcome the historic Douglas Currie, a 48ft 6in Solent Class lifeboat that served Macduff and Fraserburgh, to Aberdeen for the day.

A huge thank you to Ffolkes Offshore Ltd for their kindness once more in providing a free park and ride service from Links Road to the Lifeboat Station from 10am-4pm on the day.

Visitors can tour the lifeboats, meet the volunteer crew, and speak with colleagues from HM Coastguard, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland. There will also be a BBQ, games and prizes for the family, and RNLI merchandise on sale.

Entry is free, with donations welcome in support of our lifesaving work.

EVENT REMINDER- TOMORROW!

🏖️ School Holidays Sandcastle Competition!

Come along to our Sandcastle Competition on the 31st of July at Aberdeen Beach, Fittie end.

Whether you’re building a towering castle, a seaside masterpiece or something completely unique, we’d love to see your creations!

🗓️ Friday 31st of July ⏰ 11:00am- 1:00pm 💷 £2 per sandcastle

Winners will be chosen by our judging panel (experts in sandcastle making), with prizes for 1st place and runners-up.

Please bring your own sandcastle-building equipment (buckets, spades, moulds and anything else you need). Don’t worry if you don’t have any, we’ll have kits available to purchase on the day (please note we will have a limited number).

Both our ILB and ALB crews were out on a local knowledge exercise this weekend, putting their skills to the test on the water and keeping their knowledge of the coastline South of Aberdeen sharp.

We also took the opportunity to visit our flank station RNLI Stonehaven (thanks for having us!).

Fantastic to see our crew working together and staying sharp, always ready when the call comes in.

OPEN DAY ANNOUNCEMENT- SPECIAL GUEST!

We’re delighted to announce that the historic former Macduff and Fraserburgh lifeboat, the Douglas Currie, will be attending our Open Day on Saturday the 15th of August. The 48ft 6in Solent Class lifeboat is a real piece of history and we know she’ll be a huge hit with visitors!

We’re also looking forward to having Flank stations RNLI Stonehaven and RNLI Peterhead Lifeboat along again. Together with our own lifeboats, Bon Accord and Buoy Woody-85N, plus the historic Douglas Currie, that's FIVE lifeboats on site, a fantastic opportunity to see them all up close.

Mark your calendars: Join us on Saturday 15 August, 11am- 4pm at Victoria Dock Entrance. Lots to see and do for the whole family.
