Our ‘Let’s Talk – Huntly’ community drop-in event is taking place in the Stewarts Hall, Huntly, this afternoon and early evening (Tue, Sep 1) , to allow people to chat directly with council leaders, senior officials and local councillors to discuss what matters most to the town.

Please feel free to drop by the hall any time between 3.30pm and 7pm to share ideas, raise concerns or help shape future priorities, whether as an individual or on behalf of a group. We look forward to seeing you.

Road users are advised that we will shortly be undertaking resurfacing works on the A952 south of the A90 Cortes junction.

The work aims to improve skid resistance and the surface condition of the carriageway and will allow for the removal of the advisory 40mph speed restriction introduced earlier this year.

Works are scheduled to start on Monday next week (Sept) 7 with completion within five days, weather permitting.

During this period the A952 will be closed between the A90 Cortes junction and the U25B Newark Road. A diversion route will be signed for through traffic and buses via the A90 to Peterhead and the A950 to Mintlaw.

Access within the works area will be maintained where possible, although temporary restrictions may be necessary for safety reasons. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience while these improvements are carried out.

Remember we're hosting a drop-in session at Hatton Public Hall on Wednesday next week (Sept 2) from 2pm to 7pm where you can see the roundabout proposals for the Toll of Birness and provide your feedback.

We’re working in partnership with Nestrans to consult with residents, businesses and road users on the proposals to improve safety at the busy junction on the A90 north of Ellon.

The consultation focuses on preliminary design options for a potential roundabout at the A90/A952 junction, with the aim of improving safety, junction operation and traffic flow for the thousands of motorists who use this key route every day.

The project is the result of several years of collaborative work involving Aberdeenshire Council, Nestrans and Transport Scotland to identify a long-term solution for one of the north-east's most important transport links.

A reminder to Huntly residents that we are hosting a ‘Let's Talk’ community drop-in event on Tuesday next week (Sept 1) from 3.30pm to 7pm in the Stewarts Hall where you can meet directly with council leaders, senior officers and local councillors to discuss what matters most to the town.

Residents, community groups, businesses and local organisations are being invited to join an important conversation about the future of Huntly.

The ‘Let's Talk – Huntly’ community drop-in event taking place on Tuesday, September 1 from 3.30pm to 7pm in the Stewarts Hall will offer people the opportunity to meet directly with council leaders, senior officers and local councillors to discuss what matters most to the town.

Whether you want to share ideas, raise concerns or help shape future priorities, everyone is welcome to come along, have a chat and make their voice heard.

The informal event will focus on a range of topics affecting Huntly, including:

✅Key issues currently affecting the town and where community feedback can help shape future action
✅Town centre buildings, roads, landscape and environmental improvements and plans for the future use of local buildings and spaces
✅Opportunities to contribute to the emerging Huntly Place Plan and help identify local priorities

The event is designed to create meaningful conversations between the community and decision-makers, helping to build stronger relationships and a shared understanding of Huntly's strengths, challenges and opportunities.

Feedback gathered during the session will help inform future planning and support the development of practical projects, partnerships and community-led initiatives that can make a positive difference in the town.

A pre-determination hearing will be held on Wednesday, September 9 to discuss a planning application for the construction and operation of the onshore element of the proposed Bowdun Offshore Wind Farm at Benholm, Johnshaven connecting to Fetteresso Forest.

The application includes export cable landfall and cable circuits, er****on of substation and associated works.

The hearing will take place at 9.30am on Wednesday, September 9 at Viewmount, Arduthie Road, Stonehaven, AB39 2DQ.

A pre-determination hearing is a formal process allowing those who have already submitted valid representations - as well as the applicant and consultees - to express their views to councillors before any decision is taken.

These hearings are not public consultation events. Although no decision will be made on the application at the hearing, it will be minuted and all points raised will be placed before our Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee for discussion.

A report will then go to a meeting of the council’s Infrastructure Services Committee detailing local views on the application, where committee members will be asked to make a decision.

Please note that only those who have made valid representations on this planning application and have already indicated to the Planning Service within the specific timescale given a request to speak, will be able to address councillors at the pre-determination hearing.

For those who wish to view the session, you can do so in-person at the venue, however, seating will be limited on the day and on a first come, first served basis. Aberdeenshire schools are introducing new procedures as part of obligations around Martyn’s Law.

The new procedures will help ensure staff and pupils know how to respond safely in the unlikely event of a serious incident.

The measures will be integrated alongside existing emergency plans with a focus on reassurance, wellbeing and harm reduction.
