🏰 WHAT A SUMMER AT GWRYCH CASTLE! 🏰

The summer holidays are officially over — and what a summer it has been!

Yesterday’s Eira Festival was the spectacular finale to an unforgettable season of family adventures, magical characters, medieval mayhem, live entertainment and incredible days at the Castle.

A HUGE thank you to all our wonderful visitors, volunteers and staff who helped make this summer so special. Your support, hard work and enthusiasm mean the world to us ❤️

But don’t worry — Gwrych Castle’s season is far from over! 👀

We have an action-packed September ahead, and the Castle remains open to the public, giving you the chance to explore the Castle and grounds at your leisure.

We’re also excited to announce that hard-hat guided tours will be starting soon, offering a unique opportunity to discover more about the Castle’s history and ongoing restoration.

And there’s plenty more to look forward to, including:

🏰 CASTLE CLOSED TOMORROW – HOUSE OF EIRA TAKES OVER! 🎶

A quick reminder that Gwrych Castle will be closed to general visitors tomorrow, Saturday 5th September, as we hand over the castle for the return of House of Eira – Castle Take-Over Part II! 🎧🏰

The castle will come alive for 10 hours of house, techno, UKG and DnB, with DJs, entertainment and more areas of Gwrych open to explore as part of the festival.

This autumn, the atmospheric surroundings of Gwrych Castle provide the setting for an evening of gothic horror, with two spine-chilling one-act plays performed for your pleasure…

🚂 THE SIGNALMAN
Based on the classic ghost story by Charles Dickens, a lonely railway signalman is plagued by mysterious visions warning of impending disaster. Can a curious traveller uncover the truth before it is too late?

🧛 A THRESHOLD OF SOULS
Adapted from Bram Stoker’s Dracula, follow Jonathan Harker’s doomed journey to Castle Dracula and the terrifying events that follow his escape. As Dracula pursues him back to England, Mina and Lucy are placed in terrible danger.

Can Van Helsing stop Dracula’s reign of terror?

Expect ghosts, gothic horror, Dracula and Victorian storytelling, all brought to life within the walls of Gwrych Castle after dark.

Candlelit Comedy at Gwrych Castle is now taking place at 7pm, and your evening does not have to end when the laughter does.

After the show, ticket holders are invited to join an exclusive after-hours tour of the castle. Discover the remarkable restoration now underway, step into parts of the grounds after dark, and hear some of Gwrych’s spookier stories as night falls.

A unique chance to enjoy candlelit comedy followed by a private evening experience at one of Wales’s most atmospheric castles.

CANDLELIT COMEDY AT GWRYCH CASTLE 🎭

Join us on Saturday, 12th September for an evening of live stand-up comedy inside the historic surroundings of Gwrych Castle.

The line-up includes:

🎤 Brennan Reece – Live at the Apollo
🎤 Matt Richardson – Live at the Apollo, The Xtra Factor and Dancing on Ice
🎤 Rachel Baker – finalist in the 2025 Funny Women Awards

Hosted by comedian Harry Jenkins.

There will be two performances at 7pm and 9.15pm, with around 90 minutes of live comedy at each show.

Tickets are available from £25. Capacity is limited, so please book in advance.

A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers!

The team completed a truly Herculean task at Gwrych Castle today, clearing trees and vegetation back to around four metres from the curtain walls.

Years of ivy, hawthorn and cotoneaster were carefully trimmed away from the historic crenellations, revealing parts of the castle that have been hidden from view for decades.

It was an enormous physical effort and a wonderful team achievement. Every hour given by our volunteers makes a real and visible difference to the care and preservation of Gwrych Castle.

Just look at these before and after photographs. What a difference a day makes!

We simply could not do it without our volunteers. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard today.
