‼️ RECRUITING ‼️

***This is NOT a full time position, and is ran on an oncall system***

Looking for a new challenge? Want to do something rewarding and make a real difference in your local community?

We are looking for motivated individuals to join our team as Coastguard Rescue Officers.

HM Coastguard is the UK's 999 maritime and coastal emergency service, responding to incidents and helping people in distress around our coastline.

As a Coastguard Rescue Officer, there isn't a typical day.

One day you could be searching for a missing person. The next, providing emergency medical care to an injured walker. Or you could be working alongside your team to safely extricate someone stuck on the cliffs.

Every callout is different. Every day is different.

To be eligible, you must:

• Be 18 years or older
• Live and/or work in the local area
• Hold a full driving licence
• Be fit and healthy

No previous Coastguard experience is required, full training is provided.

If we've piqued your interest and you'd like to find out more, please get in touch with us.

To apply, follow the link at the bottom and complete the application form. When selecting your preferred team, you can find us under Area 6.

Could you be our next Coastguard Rescue Officer? 🌊🚨

HM Coastguard Aberystwyth tasked earlier this evening at approximately 1830hrs to reports of a kayaker in difficulties just to the South of Clarach. The kayaker had been assisted in the first instance by the Clarach RNLI Lifeguards, however required further assistance getting back to Clarach from their position which was effected by Aberystwyth RNLI delivering them safely to the waiting Coastguard Rescue Team and additional RNLI Lifeguard.
The kayaker had taken all the relevant safety precautions and was properly kitted out, this was merely a case of unfortunately getting caught out by a sudden change in conditions.
Our thanks to our RNLI colleagues, both Lifeboat and Lifeguard, for their assistance with this incident.
One final special shout out to Molly, who bravely attended this call out after being stung by a wasp… 3 days ago…

Remember, if you see anyone in difficulty on the cliffs, shoreline or out to sea call 9️⃣9️⃣9️⃣ and ask for the COASTGUARD

HM Coastguard Aberystwyth tasked yesterday morning at approximately 1045 to assist Dyfed-Powys Police with an investigation, and subsequent search, in the area of Morfa Bychan, near Blaenplwyf.

This was a protracted multi-agency incident involving:
HM Coastguard Borth
Gwylwyr Y Glannau Cei Newydd / HM Coastguard - New Quay Wales
Aberystwyth RNLI
New Quay Lifeboat station
Barmouth Lifeboat
Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust
North Wales Police

In addition we were assisted by Coastguard aeronautical assets, including Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 336 from Caernarfon and HM Coastguard fixed wing aircraft from Newquay, Cornwall.

We were stood down at approximately 1840 to return to station and debrief after a long day.

Our thanks go out to all partner agencies who assisted with this search, and especially the staff of Morfa Bychan Caravan Park who allowed us use of various facilities and to the kind lady who made the team some much needed cups of tea during one of our breaks from searching.

Remember, if you see anyone in difficulty on the cliffs, shoreline or out to sea call 9️⃣9️⃣9️⃣ and ask for the COASTGUARD.

HM Coastguard Aberystwyth tasked today at approximately 1530hrs along with colleagues from HM Coastguard Borth and Aberystwyth RNLI to reports of 2 persons cut off by the tide just to the South of Clarach beach. The casualties were swiftly located and brought safely to the beach at Clarach by Aberystwyth RNLI where they were met by Coastguard Rescue Officers, who assisted them back to their accommodation.

With the beautiful weather we are experiencing currently, it’s perfectly understandable to want to enjoy the stunning coastline - but when going for a walk on the beaches please remember to check tide times and ensure you leave enough time to get yourselves safely back round from any bays. However if you do get caught out then ring 999 and ask for the Coastguard as soon as possible so help can get to you swiftly.

Remember, if you see anyone in difficulty on the cliffs, shoreline or out to sea call 9️⃣9️⃣9️⃣ and ask for the COASTGUARD.
