🌙 Late-night baling at Southfield this week!

A big effort from the Glendinning team saw 275 high-quality bales made, helping secure forage for the months ahead.

The new baler wraps each bale with film, helping to preserve silage quality, reduce wastage and cut down on the amount of recycling required.

Great to see quality forage going into store in ideal conditions. 🌱🐑

🌱🐑 The sheep that made regenerative farming work.

When Will Heygate set out to integrate sheep into a regenerative arable system, finding the right genetics proved to be one of the biggest challenges. Fast forward 10 years and the flock has become a key part of the business, helping improve soil health, utilise cover crops and drive profitability.

Today, the Heygate family are planning to expand their Highlander flock to 1,000 ewes thanks to a low-input, forage-based system that fits seamlessly within their regenerative farming approach.

🐑 Another busy week completed at Southfield!

This week saw all ewes and lambs gathered for essential flock management. The ewes were checked and crutched, while the lambs were tagged, scored and DNA sampled.

A huge effort from everyone involved as work continues on the nucleus flock. 👏

🐑 A great evening was had last Friday at Chatsworth House, where farmers from across Derbyshire came together for a stock judging event.

The sheep on show were Aberfield hoggs with Primera lambs at foot, providing an excellent opportunity to assess quality stock, share knowledge and discuss what makes productive, efficient sheep.

Glorious May Bank Holiday weather here in West Wales ☀️

All of our ram groups at Peithyll have now been moved to fields with plenty of shade and a good water supply to help avoid heat stress during the warmer weather. 🌿💧

Happy, healthy sheep enjoying the sunshine responsibly! 🐑
