Vale of Rheidol Railway Scenic Steam Train Journey from the coast at Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge in the Cambrian Mountains

From the comfort of your carriage watch the scenery passing by. See the countryside change as you travel through wide open fields, woodland and rugged mountain scenery, the line twisting and turning as it clings to the hillside. Listen to the sound of a historic narrow gauge steam locomotive working hard to climb the 700ft (200m) in the 11 ¾ miles from Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge. Birds of prey

⚠️ IMPORTANT SERVICE UPDATE ⚠️

Due to extremely high temperatures for the week ahead our coal-fired steam engines will be replace by oil-fired No. 9 and our diesel locomotive, to mitigate the associated fire risk.

No. 9 'Prince of Wales' will be hauling all 10:30 and 14:00 passenger services from Monday 22nd to Sunday 28th June, with Diesel No. 10 taking the 12:00 service from Tuesday 23rd to Thursday 25th June.

Any pre booked passengers who wish to reschedule their tickets are advised to kindly contact our booking office on 01970 625819 or email [email protected]

Leaving Nantyronen Station, 2006. In the 20 years since this photo was taken, Nantyronen has been completely transformed. The trees and overgrowth have been cleared, as well as the old permanent-way buildings which were built in 1979. A platform and waiting shelter were added in late 2013.

⚠️ Stay behind fences and barriers and respect safety notices
⚠️ Never enter the railway track or trackside areas
⚠️ Always follow instructions from railway staff
⚠️ Take extra care when boarding and alighting trains
⚠️ Keep children close and supervised at all times
