A huge thank you to everyone who came along, travelled on the railway and helped make the event such a memorable one. 🚋

And of course, a very special thank you to our incredible team, who worked so hard throughout the busy event to keep everything running as smoothly as possible, making sure our visitors had the best experience. We couldn’t have done it without them. ❤️

What an incredible evening at Constitution Hill! 🌒🚋

Hundreds of people joined us at the summit to experience the solar eclipse, and it was fantastic to see so many visitors making the most of such a special occasion.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the evening such a success. Seeing the summit filled with families, friends and visitors all sharing the experience together was something we won’t forget in a hurry.

And these brilliant photographs really capture just how special the atmosphere was. 📸

🌒 ECLIPSE EVENT INFORMATION – TODAY 🌒

We’re thrilled to be celebrating this evening’s solar eclipse with you at Aberystwyth Cliff Railway!

Due to the fantastic level of interest and the high number of enquiries we’ve received, eclipse viewing glasses will now be handed out with railway admissions from 4pm onwards at our lower station.

This will allow us to get as many visitors as possible to the summit safely and in plenty of time to enjoy this special event.

🌒 Eclipse timings

The partial eclipse is expected to:

🕕 Begin: approximately 6:15pm
🌘 Reach maximum eclipse: approximately 7:10–7:15pm
🕗 End: approximately 8:05pm

🕶️ Please note: We have a limited number of eclipse viewing glasses available. These will be provided with railway admissions from 4pm on a first come, first served basis, while stocks last.

🚋 The railway and summit café will remain open throughout the event, with the last train at 9pm.

🌒 WATCH THE ECLIPSE FROM THE SUMMIT 🌒

Join us at Constitution Hill on Wednesday, 12 August for a very special evening overlooking Cardigan Bay.

The partial solar eclipse will begin at approximately 6:15pm, reach its maximum at around 7:12pm, and finish shortly after 8pm.

🚋 The Cliff Railway will operate until 9pm

🕶️ Certified eclipse-viewing glasses are included with every railway ticket

🍽️ Food will be served in the café until 6pm

☕ Drinks and refreshments will remain available until 9pm

Travel to the summit and experience this rare event from one of the best viewpoints in Aberystwyth, with uninterrupted views across Cardigan Bay.

Please remember that visibility will depend on the weather and that you should never look directly at the sun without certified eclipse-viewing glasses.

🎉 Today marks 130 years since the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway first opened its doors to the public.

On 1st August 1896, the journey began, carrying visitors to the summit of Constitution Hill to enjoy some of the finest views in Wales. Over the last 130 years, generations of families have laughed, explored, celebrated and created memories with us.

From Victorian engineering to today’s adventures, we’re incredibly proud to still be welcoming visitors every day.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of our story. Here’s to celebrating our past, enjoying the present, and looking ahead to the future.

🎉 Heddiw, rydym yn nodi 130 o flynyddoedd ers i Rheilffordd y Graig Aberystwyth agor i’r cyhoedd am y tro cyntaf.

Ar 1 Awst 1896, dechreuodd y daith, gan gludo ymwelwyr i gopa Craig Glais i fwynhau rhai o’r golygfeydd gorau yng Nghymru. Dros y 130 mlynedd diwethaf, mae cenedlaethau o deuluoedd wedi chwerthin, crwydro, dathlu a chreu atgofion gyda ni.

O beirianneg Fictoraidd i anturiaethau heddiw, rydym yn hynod falch o barhau i groesawu ymwelwyr bob dydd.
