Craigendinnie Hill – Access Update πŸš΅β€β™‚οΈ

Tree harvesting and extraction works on Craigendinnie Hill are now complete, and all mountain bike routes at Craigendinnie are open, apart from the bottom section of Friends Electric.

Please note that timber haulage is still ongoing while timber is removed from the site.

⚠️ Please take care around forestry operations:

Follow all safety signs and any instructions on site

Do not approach forestry machinery or timber lorries

Keep a minimum safe distance of 50 metres from active forestry operations, and stay further back if instructed by signage or site personnel

Be alert for moving trucks, machinery and timber being loaded or unloaded

Give forestry vehicles plenty of space and do not attempt to pass them unless it is clearly safe to do so

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe while haulage continues.

Ride safe and enjoy the trails! πŸŒ²πŸš΅β€β™€οΈ

A Midsummer Feast

⚠️ Wildlife note: The attached video shows golden eagle chicks being fed a natural prey item by their parents and may not be suitable for sensitive viewers.

High summer in the Highlands - long days, wild landscapes, and a new generation of golden eagles thriving under the watchful care of their parents.

We are hopeful that golden eagle photography opportunities will be available again next year. If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please contact the Estate Office to register your interest.

Majestic deer, sweeping landscapes, and the rich purple bloom of the heather β€” moments like these remind us just how special Glen Tanar is. πŸ¦ŒπŸ’œ

These stunning images, captured by our Wildlife Manager, showcase the beauty and resilience of this incredible landscape that so many species call home.

With the recent wildfires across the Cairngorms National Park, it's also a timely reminder that these precious places are incredibly vulnerable. Every one of us has a part to play in protecting them. By disposing of litter responsibly, and respecting the countryside, we can help safeguard our landscapes and wildlife for future generations.

Please remember that BBQs and campfires are not permitted in the Cairngorms National Park between 1 April and 30 September due to the heightened risk of wildfire. Thank you for helping us protect this special place and the wildlife that depends on it. 🌿

🌲 Forestry Operations on Craigendinnie Hill 🌲

We will be commencing forestry operations on Craigendinnie Hill next week which will last for up to 4 weeks. These works are being carried out to improve the quality of the remaining woodland to encourage natural regeneration by increasing light to the forest floor, and harvest sustainable timber for use in construction, pallets, fencing products, and renewable heat and electricity.

⚠️ Please note that public access will be affected. Temporary track closures will be in place during weekdays to ensure public safety, and work will be ongoing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For your safety:
β€’ Please avoid operational areas and obey all track closures and safety signage.
β€’ Keep well clear of forestry machinery at all times and follow any instructions from staff.
β€’ If you're unsure whether an area is safe to enter, please avoid it.

The accompanying map shows the forestry operation area and the main affected tracks.

For further information, please contact Glen Tanar Estate on 01339 886451/ [email protected], or the Glen Tanar Ranger Service on 07908 019094/ [email protected]

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while these important forestry works are carried out safely.πŸ™

Huge congrats to Natalie and Doug, who married at Glen Tanar on 6th June. 🀍

They started the day with a lovely ceremony in the Ballroom by the fireplace, which was beautifully decorated by Haysflowers πŸ’πŸŒΏ

The Aurora Quartet played violin and piano as Natalie walked down the aisle, before providing beautiful reception music. 🎻πŸ₯‚

They were then piped to the loch by one of their guests for some gorgeous photos, before enjoying a delicious wedding breakfast by Hudsons Catering

The celebrations continued into the evening, with The Limit keeping the dance floor full all night long! πŸ•ΊπŸͺ©

A truly lovely couple who had the most stunning day. All of us at Glen Tanar wish Natalie and Doug all the very best 🌟

A truly special day for everyone at Glen Tanar. πŸ’™

Huge congratulations to our Co-Chief Executive, Claire Bruce, who officially received her MBE at Windsor Castle from HRH The Princess Royal, in recognition of her services to tourism in the North-east of Scotland.

Accompanied by her family, Claire accepted the honour first announced in the King's New Year Honours List, celebrating more than 20 years of dedication to Scotland's visitor economy and championing the North-east as a world-class destination.

Reflecting on the day, Claire said:

"It was an incredibly special and humbling day to receive this honour at Windsor Castle, surrounded by my family. I have been fortunate to work alongside so many passionate people, businesses, communities and organisations over the years, and this recognises our shared commitment to showcasing the very best of Scotland and the North-east."

At Glen Tanar, Claire has led a vision for sustainable rural tourism, supporting everything from Dark Skies experiences and wildlife tourism to woodland regeneration, renewable energy and strong community partnerships.

Congratulations on this well-deserved honour Claire! πŸ‘βœ¨
