Dog Fouling in Oswaldtwistle 🐕🐕

One of my biggest frustrations is the rise in dog fouling we’ve seen across Oswaldtwistle. It’s unpleasant, unfair on residents, and has a negative impact on our streets and green spaces.

I’ve spoken with the Council’s Dog Warden team, and they have agreed to increase patrols in the area.If you see dog fouling taking place, or have photos or CCTV footage of an incident, please report it to the Dog Warden team at [email protected] so they can investigate and take appropriate action.

Where in Oswaldtwistle would you like to see more dog poo bins? 🐕

Please comment below and let me know where you think they are most needed. 👇

I’ll continue to do everything possible to reduce dog fouling in our area. There is absolutely no excuse for it!

A huge well done to everyone who walked, donated, shared, encouraged and supported this fantastic community effort — including one of our own Cllr Steven Smithson

It’s brilliant to see Oswaldtwistle’s community spirit making headlines and helping preserve an important part of our town’s history and heritage. 👏

"AGRICULTURAL" APPLICATION REFUSED

An application for prior approval was submitted to HBC for "agricultural buildings" on the proposed cemetery site.

I certainly wasn't convinced of its authenticity, and I am pretty sure I speak for the vast majority of us.

We strongly challenged the nature of the application and I am pleased to say that prior approval has been REFUSED today.

This is due to insufficient evidence to demonstrate that the application site is used for the purposes of an agricultural business. As well, that the agricultural buildings and associated track are not reasonably necessary for the purposes of agriculture within the unit.

A full application can be submitted and there is no limit to the amount of times someone can submit a planning application, but it is clear we will challenge any attempts to treat this as a way to prove development on the site, and planning by the backdoor.

We must protect our spaces.
